Default My GS3

Hi guys,
I've been browsing the forums for the past six months or so and I thought I would finally say hello.

I have a 2000 Lexus Gs300(black/beige with chrome 6 spokes). No performance or body mods but I did self-install two 12-inch subs running on 600W and an Alpine head unit with iPod control. The car was handed down to me last summer with 130,000 miles on it and some minor performance issues (bad brakes, cracked belt). My job is finally starting to pay off and I've finally got some money saved up(<$1000).

My car now has 138,000 miles on it and I drive it mostly around town in Laguna Beach. I have been considering some performance mods (intake, exhaust, etc) as I want to keep my body stock. My major concern is that performance mods that I might do would not be worth it on a car with nearly 140,000 miles. In your guys' opinions, would minor performance mods be worth it at this point?

Another question I just thought of.
When driving at speeds higher than about twenty mph I notice a high pitched noise coming from outside my car. The sound disappears when I apply the brakes, but starts right back up when I let them off. A mechanic told me that it was a warning noise indicating low brakes, but I have had all my brakes replaced and the noise is still there. Does anyone know what this annoying noise is?

first things first man.

before you start modding it out - take care of the maintenance:

1) ball joints - get them replaced.
2) tranny flush or drain/fill? when was the last time you had this done?
3) find out what that whirring noise is before you spend that <$1000 on mods - mod money goes fast.

Default Brakes

That noise is probably your brakes. That's the sound it's supposed to make when something is wrong with them. I know they were just replaced but it may be a retention spring or something. Take them back and have them double check them.
