Default Suspension problem Need Help!

I was having a local tire shop put on my new IS350 rims/tires on my 02 IS300 SportX and when they tried to mount the passenger front rim it rubs against the spindle. They didn't know if this was because of a bent spindle or if the offset from left to right is different. I called Lexus and they were no help either. I don't want to have to buy a new spindle just to have it be the same thing. Does anyone know? If it is bent can I just "tap" it with a hammer and straighten it out a bit or will I have to buy a new one?

Thanks guys!

I would imagine the offset is incorrect for the new car. What wheel do you have? If you do not know try to find out from the manufacture what the specs are and that would help you determine what the issue is.

Thanks for the suggestion. After much frustration I went out into the garage to look at the rims and tires only to discover that they mounted the 225 series tire on the 8.5 inch wide rim and the 235 series on the 8 inch rim. I had them switch it this morning and it works fine. That is what I get for not supervising them the whole time I guess. They at least gave me my $ back. It just wasted a couple hours of my time and made me second guess going to Tires Plus again.

Muy intelligente those techs can be! Glad it worked out for you. Any time you hear something so off the wall as that was as someone for help as you did. Was not the answer that I suggested but it was a hell of alot more reasonable than a bent spindle. The bent spindle idea is not very likely for daily driven cars. Maybe on off-roading trucks or true rally cars.

The front and rear offset is different on 2IS wheels. Make sure sure you didn't put the rears on the front.

Question Soooo?

The offset is different so the back rims cant go the front and vice versa? would a local mechanic shop be able to tell the difference?
