It's funny how people are trying to add steps to complicate the process. I didn't leave any steps out - it's really this easy, everyone...

Aren't $1000 brake jobs the biggest money-maker on the planet for dealers? You could have high school kids doing brakes jobs they are so easy. I never resurface rotors either unless I have pad residue from the track (and only then if it doesn't come off after normal street use). I had a friend fashion me some plier type things that push out when you squeeze them rather than clamp. It is awesome. I just put it between the pads and it compresses the pistons. There are some that say sending fluid through your ABS system backwards isn't good for it and you should open the bleed screw. Shrug. They could be right. If somebody has trouble putting the new pads in, the pistons aren't sufficiently compressed. Sometimes opening the bleed screw while you compress ensures they stay down.

Also, big, big, big, safety tip. Pump the pedal before you drive the car. Ask me how I know--almost flew out into the street on my steep driveway (parking brake stopped me). I was also moderately rearended (5mph) at a track day when a G35 guy swapped his pads and forgot to do that. A few pumps and they will firm right up.

Javy:
The TSB break pads are not what you posted...

From Luis:
the part number you gave me is for the front rotors

Just did some research and found this thread:
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...ght=brake+pads

I pm'ed that to Luis...

OOPS! You're right, the low-dust pads are part number 04465-30400. I posted the first part number in the TSB, not the second. On a separate note, if what Luis told you is right, then it looks like the rotors ARE included in the brake pad TSB, since that part number is listed as a required part on the "Alternative Front Brake Pads" TSB. The TSB itself, however, lists that part number (43512-30310) as "Front Disc Brake Pads and/or Shims." I'll have to double-check that in my parts manual when I get home tonight, and I'll post what I find out in the brake TSB thread.

Default Would this process be the same for the rear pads?

....or are they somehow different? I have 19k on my car as well and got the TSB done - very happy. The rears are getting worn and it would be great to be able to do this myself.

You can also order them from Sewell here. Their price is $69.95, but if you use the CL discount code (CL911M) you get 10% off. Either way, you'll have to wait for them, because Carson has to order the pads since they don't keep them in stock.

Just to bring closure to this thread, can you also expand on how you 'bedded' the new brake pads. The average DIYer may not know the best or recommended method to bed the pads . . .
