Default PLEASE I need help or advise, All confused!!!

98 GS 300, Just bought some rims, Boss by American Eagle, Black Chrome in 20s.
My Issue and concern is this, The tires recommended to go on such a rim are the 235/30/20 and from there i paid for them, but when the shipment came in i stood back, I realized that the 30 aspect is really small. Now so i asked if I can get 235/45/20 put on the rims or even an aspect of 40 so i have a lil rubber on the tire. The tech says NO. The only ones are 235/30/20. Now here it goes, Will I have problems with the ball joints, control arm, bearings? I worry because i will not have nuff rubber to absorb any hits in a pot holes seeing Ottawa, Canada roads are not that great, or does anyone have any suggestions that dont involve coilovers? BTW I will buy just springs to lower the car just an inch. So any great suggestions or info will help and thanks. My car is Gold and I bought black chrome Rims, what you think of that too. Thanks for the input

Drew

I believe that with your rim size, you'll be able to go with a 235-35-20 without any rubbing of your fender linnings. As for the ride comfort, you're not ever going to get that soft ride feelings like the stock 16's will give you since you are riding on a much lower profile size. What is the width of your wheel again?

SEARC BUTTON IS YOUR FRIEND...this has been overdiscussed.

I have 20's and they told me the same thing. I went with a 245/35 and I don't rub at all. You won't have any issues with this size tire. And I live in Dirty Jersey. Roads over here in the NJ/NY area are horrible. You'll be fine just pay attention

235/35 is an odd ball size and your going to pay out the ***. Go with the 245/35's. You'll be rollin on your dubs in no time

Agreed.
The tech state that because your speedo will be off by a little with a 245/35 tire. I would buy 245/35/20 for a little more rubber on the sidewall,

I have seen a few folks on the board drop the car lower than 2 inches and not rub with 20s. I'm sure someone else will chime in. MY opinion is that you will be fine.

I've talked to others about it too. With 245/35's you'll rub. Tanabe NF210's drop 1.5in F/1in R and you will have no rubbing issues. If you want something more aggressive you might want to consider a smaller tire. I've seen people on here with 225/35's on Daizens (1.7F/1.2R) with minimal rubbing. Search on here about drops...there are tons of info on springs. I know "nice info on drop" has 20's with Daizens.

not exactly, it depends on tire brand. i know weird, but true. the other big factor is offset of the wheel. i had 245/35/20 falkens and not once did it rub.
falkens are a rounded side wall tire and keeps rubber away from fender.
i have df210 2" drop.

I meant with the 20's and DF's you probably rub. NF's you'd have no problem.

here's a breakdown...
245/35's without a drop won't rub
245/35's with the NF210's won't rub
245/35's with the DF's might rub depending on the tire size/brand.

I've PMed Fonzy about his drop and he said that 225/35's shouldn't rub.

no, i said i had 245/35/20 falkens and did not rub. i now have nitto and when i first got them they where 245/35/20 (fronts only) and that ish rub went back to tire shop and got 225/35/20. like i said i found out that nitto runs squarish/oversized, has that lip protect feature. i had to stretch the nitto out to get that rounded look/feel like falkens.
