Default Zeal for the New Year!

I received my new Zeal Function XS coilovers last week and installed them this last weekend. Definitely stiffer than my CS , but just what I wanted in terms of handling and quietness ( very quiet ). The Zeals are well made and have a great adjustment scheme. I've kept the same basic ride height ( drop ), less than one finger. Good stuff

Terry Congrats on the new purchase.. Can these Zeals in terms of comparedness be equivalent to the Flex? I never new the CS's to be noisey? Give us a update after a few days of driving. I 'm sure its a huge difference over the Cs's

Thanks guys.

Johnny,

You are partly responsible - when you made your change to the Zeals from Tein Flex. I remember you describing the quality and quietness. No question about both of those. I wanted a firmer ride and more performance than what my Tein CS gave me, so it was either Flex or the Function XS. I chose to try the Zeals. I actually had to wait a few months before they arrived ( before I knew anything about your current endeavor ). A group buy would have been great.

Tony,

These babies are definitely stiffer than my CS, spring rate is significantly higher. As of now I have them on the soft damping setting ( 1 out of 6 ) and they are stiffer and better suited for performance than the CS on the stiffest setting. Not as cushy as the CS, though. But for me, I prefer the handling advantage the Zeals give me. The CS's were not really noisy, but I have heard the Flex can be.

As a side note, I compared the coilovers ( CS and the Function XS ) in length to give myself a decent drop after the install, but it became very apparent that the CS compress about an inch more than the XS. Thus I had to go back and lower the XS to get back to my 1/2 finger drop.

Cheers!

how would they compare to bilstein PSS? Congrats on the upgrade. I do agree that CS are a bit soft but far better then stock, if I had to do it again I would go with PSS and they would be cheaper..

Blue, that's what I was saying!

Terry, great job on the upgrade and can't wait to see it!

Are we gonna get an upgrade thread in the GS forums?

Not sure how they compare to the Bilstein PSS. Ed ( lexforlife ) could give us a comparison between the PSS and Flex, though. I would expect the XS and PSS to be somewhat similar. Certainly the PSS is much cheaper, so I would hope I'm getting something extra from the XS for the $$.
