Default Tein SS? Decent coilover?

Hey my shocks are gone and I need some coilovers to achieve the look i like and still have a nice ride, i dont care to much about handling of course i want to improve it but care more about the ride.

So I saw this set http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TEIN-...spagenameZWDVW

of Tein SS 16 adjustable coil overs, 900 bucks shipped....

What do you guys think of these and how will they ride.

Thanks - George!

if you care about the ride quality, definitely do NOT consider the ss. that's a very very very stiff setup, you back is going to suffer big time

SS = Super Street.

Maybe I'm just old, but SS = Super Stiff. Some like it and some don't. It is definitely a higher handling lower comfort variety.

I do not have personal experience with the Tein SS, but what i heard from the Tein distributor is that the SS is less stiff compared to the Flex.

Note ... the preferred CS are monotube shocks, whereas the SS (and Flex) are twintubes.

hey alex

i think i would have to disagree the spring rates are firmer then flex at 14 up front while flex is at 10 and flex has the zero preload adjutment to help with comfort

I have a kenwood flip out monitor when i hit a good bump my monitor shakes. my teins are set on 14th click turning left (soft). I hope my cs's once they come will be a whole lot better.

According to a shock damping graph (comes with the Japanese Tein installation guide), the Tein Flex demping is very high, 2x the Tein CS demping force, I guess the SS will be somewhere in between.

Also, you cannot easily compare the Tein Flex springrates compared to the Tein SS or CS, since the Flex has a adjustable shock body.

What exactly does the dampening setting do?

I've always thought that it made the suspension stiffer/softer, but I've experimented with the adjustments on my suspension plenty of times. Seems like changing the preload of the springs is the biggest factor for ride stiffness. I think the dampening changes the rate that the spring can return to its original position or something to that extent. It seems like I can't feel too much difference when I have the damper set at full stiff or full soft. Someone explain a bit more?
