Bradi Rotor replacement - Help a rookie!
#1
hey guys,
i just got a gs300 recently and bought four bradi rotors. i have read here that people recommend changing pads and such.
is it generally ok to just change the rotors without doing a damn thing else? my money is tight and pads aren't as exciting an upgrade as some other things.
also going to lower my car soon. a local place said it'd cost $550, with H&R springs. i'm going to get the shortest drop possible, just enough to see that its dropped without it being blatantly obvious.
i just want my car lowered with springs and changed rotors, is there anything that i should be concerned about(shocks, pads, etc)?
Just wanna pay for rotors and springs and go on to new things. Answers will mean a world to me, so please help if you can.

Bravo - The rule of thumb is to change pads at the same time that U either change the rotors or have the original ones turned so that the pad/rotor combo has a chance to "bed-in" together ( much like a break-in period ). However, if ya don't have that many miles on the pads & money's tight ( when isn't it? ), then just reinstall the old pads ( assuming that they have some decent life left in them ). Also ( to reduce the chance of warping the new rotors ) after they're installed, do 5-6 moderate stops ( consecutively ) from about 30-40 mph & then let the rotors cool off completely. This procedure will help break them in as well. Not familiar with the Bradi name myself. Good braking!!

thanks for the reply, guys.
SilverGSguy, one of my Nth cousins was able to get them for me for $325 for all four corners. I have the number for a guy that can get all four cheaper than $325, but the won't be the same brand from front to back. email me and i'll let have the number.

bravo,
for lowering, HR would be the way to go for lowest possible while still retain good comfort level.
price: if $550 is just for HR spring and labor, you are paying waaay too much, unless it includes alignemnt, or is the lex dealer who does the install.
HR ~$285 for parts, plus $120-200 for labor+$60-100 for alignment. when lowering, it is HIGHLY advised that you get performance Shocks such as the BILSTEINS at the same time for max benefit, and save another future install labor cost. as HR springs+factory shcoks will make the fcatory shcoks wear out faster than ususal.
common feedback is that factory shocks will last about one year after lowering with HR springs. if you want the BILSTEINS now, or later on , PM me, i can get a set to you for $425 delivered, this is ~40% off retail.

gs4will,
so i really do need to replace the shocks. how long would shocks last if i do not lower the car? another $425 + labor, oh my god this all hurts so bad. this is going to be an ugly setback for a body kit. thanks for the info, and i'll see about getting those bilsteins from you.

bravo,
stock shocks usually last for quite a while depends on road condition. if you intend to lower the car, save the money until you can get the shocks at the same time with springs, this way you will save at least ~$200-250 on labor cost. like many guys here, i want a good body kit, but imho, suspension upgrades, and breaks are more vital when it comes to car mods.
let me know when you are ready for the bilsteins.
