tia,

yes, you can. but not recommended for 2 reasons.

1. the stock shocks are not designed and made for more aggressive spring rate such as HR/eibach springs. you will not have a problem, but you will not get the max. results/benefit of upgrading suspension. look wise , it does look better than no drop at all.
it will not damage anything, but the stock shocks will wear out faster.

2. by replacing both springs and shocks together, you save an extra cost later for the labor install and alignment. unless you are doing it yourself, then it would be just your time.

HRs are usually matched w/BILSTEINS sport shocks. (several members have this set up)
when you decide you want to get these shocks to match, let me know. i can get a set to your door for $425, that is ~40% off retail listed prices.

good luck.

will

Joe, I advise don't use the stock shocks. Before I lowered my car I was planning on using the stock shocks with my HR springs. William has made some valid points on why you should change your shocks as well.

Paying double installation in a 6-8 month time period is no fun.

If you don't have the cash now, just wait alittle and get the shocks. Thats what I did.

I used the stock shocks for almost a year with my Eibachs. They lasted THAT LONG. But when they go, they go quick. My car started getting too "Floaty" especially at higher speeds. So I got Bilsteins from Wil and really like them. But I had the luxury of a brother who has an autoshop so it is easy for me to changes springs and shocks.

Most shops will probably charge you at least $200.00 for labor to change the springs. If you can afford the shocks, do it now and save the $200.00 it will cost you later. The shocks at $425.00; hey you're halfway there!

Default Wear Rate

Joe - Lots of experience with dropped mini-trucks here & Will's correct. The stock struts will wear alot faster because when U drop the car, U take some of the travel out of the strut & therefore it doesn't have all the designed capacity to dissipate the heat generated during it's bounce/rebound cycles. The oil inside will begin to foam & that's what keeps it from functioning as it should & the reduced benefits Will mentioned show up. Of course, if U're like most of us, the cost factor weighs heavily as well!!

Default Can I use stock shocks with a 1.3f & 1.4r drop?? ... or KYB?

Has anyone had any experience with the KYB GR-2 shocks that TireRack recommends with the H&R springs? Decent savings over Billsteins.
