Default Front wheels rubbing on fender

Hi, I'm new to the club & I just got my SC about 2 weeks ago. I noticed that the front wheels rub the fender each time I pass a dip or any uneven surface. Also, it makes like a creaking sound (like an old spring bed) everytime it rubs.

My car came with lexus chrome rims but I don't think it's stock for an SC since I haven't seen it on any SC's yet. My tire size is 225/55/16. I'm thinking that I need new struts/shocks, but I just wanna make sure it's not somehting else.

I'd appreciate any advice on this. Thanks!

I have chrome wheels also and that is the stock tire size...probably a blown shock. Dunno... just taking a wild guess.

Those are most definately NOT stock SC rims, or Lexus rims for that matter. But your tire size is stock. Blown spring and or shock.

Or the wheels are the wrong offsets.

I'm pretty sure it's not a stock SC rim, but the center cap says 'lexus' though. (don't know what the offsets are on this). has anyone seen this kind of rim from other models?

i'll probably try to change the struts & springs first and see how it goes.

here's a closer pic of the wheel

buy some cheap coilovers so you can adjust the height to your liking.

The offsets dont look to be that bad or bad enough to cause rubbing. They look like the old prime wheels that had fake "lexus" center caps to me. All the same, check out the fender/linear and see if you can tell where its rubbing....that might help determine why.

i'm not exactly sure, but it would be interesting if someone could post a pic where that rim originated (well, if it's really from a lexus in the first place)

never saw those wheels on a lexus before .i think they are prime rims .your suspension is probably the culprit .as high as that car is it should not be rubbing like that .your shocks have to be dead

you sure it's tire/wheel rubbing??? as high as it sits, I think you would be hard pressed to get the tire to touch the inner fender... are there clean marks anywhere, and if so, where at (clean means the tire is rubbing)

I would do the bounce test first before replacing the struts. The creaking sound is most likely from worn bushings or sway-bar end links.

can you elaborate on this bounce test regarding the shocks? My car makes a wicked creaking noise from the left rear, yet i don't bottom out anywhere on that wheel so I don't know if the shock is busted or if its a bushing or a control arm or what...what should I listen for or observe when doing this bounce test?
