Default CarsonTuned Strut Tower Bar Fitment Issue

Mods, please sticky this.

Guys,
Is anyone else having fitment issues with the Chrome or Aluminum Strut Bar?
The main issue is it fitting over the lip of the shock tower hole. Please see the pics below and if this is an issue, select the model of GS and the finish of the bar. I have spoke to Steve at Carson about this and want to see how many others are having an issue.

As you may be able to see, the bracket does not fit over the raised lip. The hole is too small, by at least 1/16 of an inch.

it might have just been a bad batch where they accidently used the wrong bit to drill? Which one do you have? the Alum. or chrome?

Will the spacer push the stb up too high? If not, why dont you just keep the spacer on there?

Your pic gives me the illusion that the hole isn't too small but off center. It looks as though if the hole was just a tad more to the lower left it would fit over that lip.

mikal - I have the aluminum one.

PHML - The spacer keeps the bracket above the lip, but this is not optimal for the actual performance of the bar. Mine was torqued down well, about 55 ftlbs, and it slipped after a few hours of driving. It should slip over the lip, using this as an anchor ann allowing the bar to keep full pressure on the shock tower, reducing flex of the shock tower.

GWELEX - The pic is crappy, I cannot got a good shot, but basically it looks like this.

It is close, but I would say the hole in the bracket is about 2/16ths undersized.

I have the same problem. I hope steven can come in play and resolve this problem.. I heard many people suggesting jacking up the car from the middle to install the STB. I tried that and still wouldnt fit perfectly as Joel has stated on this threat..

The jack trick solves a different problem. The STB hole not fitting in the lip is an entirely different issue.

Hey guys, whats up Joel, just wanted to keep you posted on what's going on. We have emailed Japan on the fitment issue along with some pictures that have been provided to us by the members of this board. We expect a response in a few days since they are still at SEMA as we speak. As soon as we have a response back I will post up again. Untill then if anyone has any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Wow....kinda surprised it wasn't test-fitted first before offered up for sale.

In any case, sounds like a resolution is pending.

I am sure they test fitted them before actually producing them. They had a few 300s and 430s roaming around with them on before they sold them. Probably a bad batch but I am sure Carson will take care of you guys.

You are correct sir, it was test fitted before and fit was fine over the lips on the top rail. We think it probably was a bad batch and will be taking care of all our CL members and customers. I will post up again as soon as we have more information.
Thank You

I test fitted the chrome prototype bar and had it on for over 2 weeks with no problems. I mounted the bar on top of the black ring. One of the pics in the vendor forum is from my car.

Whatever the problem is, Steve and Luis are gonna take care of you guys.

Default Stb

Hey guys,

Just wanted to follow up with some more details. We are currently putting a hold on any more sales on the bars untill we get some solid info from our supplier in Japan. We are waiting to see if it was a bad batch that was just machined to the wrong size, or if it was made to work with the spacer. As LEXOGOOD stated, his was on for weeks with no problems with the spacer on. If it comes back as machined wrong, we will bring them back, get knew ones in, and ship 'em out. Just waiting for a response from our supplier now.
