Cool

New owner of blk/blk GS300. I bought the four corners of rotors (stock size)
but could use input on pads to buy. I commute and want low noise/dust but
performance anyway. Help.

try steve ganz at carson toyota 1800-90 toyota

w/stock size rotor+caliper, he recommends trd pads from japan. they are dusty though, like many perfromance pads.

Smile How do the Bradi's look?

I found them on ebay. They are cross drilled AND slotted! Basically, they
look beautiful!! I'll next buy the TRD pads as recommended to be followed
by H&R springs, shox, wheels/tires and have them all installed at once.

i also remcomend AXXIS metal master pad, great, with almost no dust, good grip, and last long. if your doing all this, might as well get stainless steel lines, helps alot!.

Bradi slotted/drilled rotors, AXXIS metal master pads, and TRS SS brake lines?

I know I can get TRD from Steve, what about the rest?

And are the AXXIS pads good in performance like the TRD but no dust like the stock GS pads?

And how reliable are the Bradi rotors, I feel that I will be degrading the safety & quality of my GS if I get the Bradi rotors....can you guys say anything about their quality?

Default Brake dust = BLEH!

I HATE brake dust. Can't stand it. I'd never buy pads that spew tons of dust. There are alternatives.. Not as good as "performance" pads, but certainly better than most stock pads, WITH NO DUST.

MrHorse (and others):

Can you please provide some additional details on the alternatives you mention?

My brakes are about due for replacement and I'm looking for 'light mod' parts (e.g. not a Subra brake upgrade) that a Lexus dealer can install for me.

Anyone have parts suggestions to fit the above not mentioned already in the above thread?

Has anyone had their dealer install brake mods, especially the easy 1-for-1 replacement type?

Dave,

You can consider SS brake lines. They will remove the mushy feeling when you step on the brake. They will not improve stopping distance nor fading.

As for brake pads, TRD racing pads offer great performance, very hard but create lots of dust. You could try Hawks pads (that ones Steve is using now). They are not as hard, the price is cheaper and don't create as many dust.

As for rotors, TRD, Power slotted rotors are the more popular ones IMO.

My results with TRD brake pads.
I had these pads on my car since March 2000 up until a few days ago...They stop on a dime! But lots of dust, and squeal. When I went to get the rear brakes worked on, they showed me the results on my rotors and calipers. Apparently the amount of heat generated caused the drivers side caliper to sort of malfunction. so I had about 15% pad on the outside of the disk and 40% pad on the inside. They had to replace the caliper. I went back to the factory pads...damn I only wish I had been able to get the Supra kit to fit w/o buying new wheels. Maybe next time.

This is just the result with my car.
