I need to get new tires for the stock 17" rims. The OEM tires were HORRIBLE in the snow and would like something that can handle the snow w/o too much given up in handling and noise.
Here are the tires I tried to narrow it down to.
Yokohama Guardex F310
Michelin Pilot Alpin
Pirelli Winter 240
Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22 or MZ-01
Dunlop SP Winter Sport M2
I can not purchase a set of winter rims/tires at this time.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thank you
Jim

Snow tires
Being from Phoenix, I am no expert on snow tires. However, I have lots of friends who live in Denver and other snowy areas and they all say the same thing -- there isn't a good "all-season" tire in the world that is good in snow. Everybody I know has 2 sets of tires - one for the summer and one for the winter.
My advice would be to get a good wet/dry tire mounted on your factory rims since they will ride quieter and handle better on wet/dry pavement than any snow tire can. I personally bought a set of Kumho Supra Ecsta's and really like them (they suck in the snow).
Then, get some backup rims (plenty of 16's to be found on eBay) and add some snow tires to them so you can swap out your tires/wheels for winter traveling. My friends all like the Bridgstone Blizzak's.
Thx...Doug
