Default Porterfield Brake Pads

Anybody have experience w/ Porterfield R4-S brake pads?

A lot of BMW folks swear by them. Been told they have great stopping power, little dust and good wear characteristics. Of the course the BMW vs. Lexus GS400 are dynamically different (eg. weight, etc) hence my inquiry.

Thanks!

I guess no one in 'Club Lexus Land' has any first hand experience w/ Porterfield pads.

I did however pick up a set (front and rears) from Porterfield in Costa Mesa last week and will be installing the fronts (w/ new Brembo slotted rotors) this Saturday. The pads are R4-S Carbon Kelvar compound. The Porterfield P/N's are AP 619 (F) and AP 771 (R). Great customer service. They didn't have the front set on hand so they made me a set for next day pick up.

I'm replacing my Brandi rotors (drilled & slotted) and Green Stuff pads after a few years of service. Getting a little vibration @ 60 mph braking and pads are near 'end of life'. I never thought this setup had much stopping power although brake dust was minimal.

Funny, the rear Green Stuff pads wore out before the fronts and I changed them to 'stock' Lexus pads a month or two ago. I thought that was premature caused by caliper 'drag' but it wasn't the case. I guess the front/rear brake bias on the Lexus was the cause.

I'll keep the forum up to date on the Porterfield setup if anyone is interested.

I used to have the R4S pads on my Maxima. They worked pretty good, but I remember having LOTS of dust on my wheels.
