Default looks sharp

Looks good. What process did you use. Im going to do the same with mine as soon as my Supra Brakes come in. First they will be powder coated black or red, and then the graphics toped with some high heat clear to seal it all up.

Just some Home Depot Heat paint ($4.99) and some vinyl cut outs of the actual emblems ($17.00) not to expensive...and i think it looks a lot better than rust!

Joe, what did you do to prepare the caliper before painting it? I will be doing mine this weekend.

I went red on my silver ride. But the silver looks pretty sweet, esp with the logos... but then you already knew this or you wouldn't have posted pics of them.

Default Nice touch

superjoe,

that's a really nice touch on the calipers. Any worries about the vinyl lettering melting due to heat? Did you remove the calipers when you painted them, or just mask the rotors and other stuff? Are the stickers pre cut or did you cut them out yourself? Where to get them? I have actually considered doing a DIY powder coating on mine (its called hot coat), Here's what I am thinking, I would first hot coat in black, and then using the vinyl lettering to create the LEXUS and the "L", I would hot coat in silver, then lose the vinyl and hopefully I have acheived the desired effect. Anyone know if powder coating will affect calipers? (ie retain more heat)

Definitely not. The coat is barely a few hundredth mm and since heat conduction is proportional to the thickness, the net insulation would be negligible. The "bottleneck" in heat rejection lies in the air-caliper interface, because air is a bad heat conductor even at high convective velocities.

Default LEXUS CALIPER STICKERS

Hi guys:

I'm the guy that sold the Lexus Caliper stickers to XsuperjoeX. These are for both the front & rear. I can get them to you in any color you need. The price is $17 for the set. Please specify the color.

Send check w/ info to:

Ted Chrzanowski
227 Garry Drive
New Britain, CT 06052

The stickers are perfect;y sized for our calipers. I have them on my own car.

Peace.

Johnny Mo, I agree with you. xsuperjoex, will you describe the step by step process that you did? Did you leave the vinyl on the caliper or remove? Also, did you remove the unit for painting or just tape it off? Thanks, Tiny

important 9 step procedure

step by step:

1) tape the car up (above the wheel wells)
2) paint caliper and rotor desired color...don't use tape just paint it all
3) let it dry
4)drive car
5)press brake...the brake pad will cut a razor sharp cut right into the paint where the rotor is which gives it that perfect look.
6)let all 4 calipers be warm to the touch
7)apply vinyl stickers...make sure they are straight
8)go show off!!
9) go and get some honeys'

I hope my step by step method will help you guys acheive your goal of the perfect caliper.
