There are two steering rack bushings that go where the bolts mount it to the frame and one large one for a total of three. The large one is available from Toyota and the other 2 are available from Andrew Vlamos, vftbushes.com. Hope this helps.

If your steering feels loose then it's most likely the rack bushes. Get under the car with a pry bar and pry on the mounting areas to see if there is any play. It should be really tight (obviously). Use the pic above as a reference.

i get this "dead" steer everytime i turn....u know what i mean?
i turn the wheel slight degrees and the car does not turn. there is a "dead" spot in between
when turning both left and right...........it sucks and "dangerous"!!!

If someone can get that part number for the Toyota bushing, I would REALLY appreciate it.

My steering feel loose only when I'm on the freeway. Does that mean the steering bushing is bad also??

Print this out and bring it to your dealer to get a price. It's the grommet in the bottom left of the pic.

i unded up getting VFT bushings instead of lexus OEM. Installation was easy. only the bottom 2 bushings were bad. one of the in fact was barely there. It had disintegrated almost completely.

took like 15 minutes for the whole thing (i had access to a lift and tools)

I'm currently experiencing the same problem. The top of the steering wheel will end up at roughly the 10 and 2 o'clock position before any real "turning" is experienced.

Have you had a diagnosis on what the problem is?

I am suspecting it is one of two issues.

1) The steering rack itself is going bad.
2) The power steering pump is leaking (which is the case w/ my car). HOWEVER...I don't think this is truly the problem as steering is fine. It is not like the "power steering" is on and off.

Any ideas?
