Default Ok, I'm confused...

Are the steering rack bushings different from the rack and pinion bushings? Where can I get rack and pinion bushings?

I love the bushings. I had a shop install them. They are working out great

I'm going to an Authorized Pirelli dealer to have the tires Warranty checked.

I am going to try a different set of tires.....

The car recently had a complete flush and fill with Toyota type IV

bolts and nuts on the driveshaft to diff are correctly torqued to factory spec.

Perhaps your next area to investigate is your torque convertor.
Just a thought, I changed out my factory original for a Dragon, changed my trans fluid to Toyoto Type IV and it definitely made a difference.
My car was not vibrating though, just shuttering between 1600 and 2700 RPM.
I also at the same time replaced all my control arm bushings, trans mount and engine mounts and steering arm bushings.
The difference in both handling , noise and shuttering was unbelievable.
My SC400 now feels better than a newer model Lexus off the show room floor.

What condition were your old steering arm bushings in?
Did you compare the old and the new when they were installed?

the old steering rack bushings were destryed. The steering has less play now. It gives a little weight to the steering itself.

They were not very difficult to change as it was stated in the instructions that came with them.

Did you buy your steering bushings from Vlamos in Australia ?
Did you also replace the bushing that Toyoto has available (the large one). ?

they were the Vlamos bushings. I got my set from SC400T.

I didn't change the bushings that Toyota has available. The big one towards the passenger side. It still looked good when taken out.

Default Need Help Regarding Steering Rack & Bushings

I have two questions - I have a lexus RX300 Year 2002:
1) Do you have to replace the entire steering rack or can you only replace the bushings if the bushings are bad?

2) If you have your power steering rod and hose replaced, is your steering rack touched at all?

Any feedback would be appreciated.
