Default Tanabe's new AIR COBRA suspension

Part coilovers, part airbags.....you decide...

I just saw on VIP STYLE today that their new kit for the Aristo is out and you can adjust the height from your remote control!!! Very cool!

Yes, the kit comes with a remote control to control the up and down of your air suspension. Some people I've talked to said that they tend to shy away from airbags because of the very bumpy and rough ride that it gives. However, I noticed from the construction that this is more of a coilover system with just an airbags upper mount to adjust the height slightly. This won't give the crazy drop like JunctionGS's car but I think it will give enough flexibility for the rest of us who just want enough height to get over that speed bump or that steep incline.

I wish I could scan the mag to show you guys but the tank is not that big. It's almost like what a small 10" sub box would be sized at. It would fit perfect into the little nook right after the spare tire. However, I already have my subs and 4 amps sitting there, so I might have to find another place for it.......oh wait, was I getting one???

I did a calculation and this kit costs like almost USD4,000 from their website!!

Is Tein coming out with a kit too?

That is what I heard from a few people, I am not sure if they were flapping their mouths or what not.

It would be interesting to see what TEIN comes out with in the future.

Tanabe's Air Cobra is different than the TEIN system you guys are mentioning. The Tein system uses a hydraulic setup and is ONLY available for wagons. As for ride quality for Air Suspension, IMO. I think if you find the right height around stock, the ride quality is perfect. If you are too high, the ride is too harsh, if you are too low, it bottoms out... Just gotta find that happy medium..

the Tanabe Air Cobra is one of a few sick suspension setups out in Japan like that. I stil think 4000 is well worth the money

Yes, but most coilovers are only $1000+ and spring/shocks combo go less than $600 these days. A $4000 air/coilover suspension system, no matter how revolutionary, is still 4x more expensive than its next closest competitor.......

But so nice, wish I could scan the pic of the white Aristo in the VIP Style mag. It looked like it could go up and down by more than 3 inches.....!!!!

Well I called Tanabe in Japan and I found out that the air cobra kit is only being tested on the Aristo this month and it won't be fit for sale for another 3-6 months. And when the kit does come out it will be USD4,000.

YIKES!
