Default Alignment Issue

I have a '99 GS and have had H&R Springs and also Tananbe (2") drop on the car.

I have had a great deal of trouble gettign the car alligned properly and have taken to a couple fo shops and they type in their numbers on the allignment machine (according to factory set-up) and it is always off.

I think one shop said that something was bent due to my previous springs being low or soemthing. What do you think is the problem and what do I need to do to fix it?

I now have Eibach/Bilstein combo.

The alignemnt is always off to the left. Its pretty considerable.

I have my old stock 17s on and want to get this fixed now rather than in a week or 2 when my new 20s come in.

Help!

Ted

With a 2" drop I don't think you can get the car to factory alignment specs.

I'll second that. My car is lowered 2.75" up front and 2.5" in the back, and my left side is way off spec compared to my right side. Try -3 degrees for the front wheel, while my front right has -1.7 degree camber. The same story for my rear tires, where I have close to -3 degrees of camber for my left side too.
I love my drop and actually don't mind the camber when I'm cornering, but the tire wear will definitely kill my wallet eventually. Only prayer is to wait and see if daizen will actually release their camber kit.

Fellas:

I HAD a 2" drop. Not anymore. I have the Eibach Springs with a 1" drop.

What do you think is causing the problem.

Does the alignment guy just type in spec nymbers on his machine or does he need to alter it in order to fix my specific problems?

what does the camber kit do?
would getting a new camber kit fix my problems?

What is considered the max drop BEFORE you start running into camber and/or alignment problems?

hello guys,i own a alignment shop, and deal with stuff like that every day,you can get a car back in alignment and they are all kinds of ways to do it,you say it is off to the left what you mean is the wheel off to the left or does it pull to the left,i do not use a computer to do my alingments i do it the old fashion way, most ppl that use the alignment computer only know what the machine tells them and that is it,i can do alot of more stuff than the pc can do,so that puts it back to the ? about the wheel,if the stearing wheel is off then the track is off,if it is pulling to the left sometimes you can swap the two front tires from side to side and that will take the pull away some of the time but i dont know what your camber and caster is reading so it is hard for me to say,but anyway if you need help or ask me a ? feel free to do so,thanks alot and have a nice day i used a set of eibach pro springs on a 03-sc430 last week and it turned out so very nice, ill send pics to anyone that would like to see it and i have pics of what i had to do to get the job done like i said if anyone would like to see them or need help that i might can help with feel free to get with me ...

Y2KR1:

Thanks for the help. Here is whats happening. the alignment shop does evertyhiong by computer and when they did the alignment inputting the OEM figures or follwing the OEM fugures for my car, when I gotr the car back, in order for the car to go straight, I have to have the wheel at 11 on the clock. Thats not the way it should be. It needs to be at 12 on the clock. I mean that I have to turn the wheel to the left for the car to go straight, my hands wind up at 11 position on the clock, know what I mean.

How can I find a shop in CT that does alignment without a computer, the proper way that you do it?

Thanks,

Ted

I did not realize it was that bad. I would definitely not find that acceptable. I've used the dealer when I had a 1"+ drop and another performance alignment shop here in NorCal when I basically had 1/2 finger to no gap. Both came out perfect in terms of steering. Of course I was not exactly at spec with the lower drop but the steering wheel is perfectly straight (12 o'clock) when I go straight. Sorry I can't help with a shop sugesstion but I just wanted you to know that it is possible to have a good alignment.

Good luck.
