Cool Where is the ECU Steering Module

Greetings to all, I have ordered the Reclibrated Steering ECU for my 2001 GS 430 and wonder if anyone can tell me where the stock unit is located? Do you have to stand on your head looking under the dash to find it? Thanks in advance for the help.

Default well

i do believe you need to remove the entire lower dash piece, its the one with your trunk and gas tank switch, its not that hard to do at all, hardest thing for me was to remove the old ecu.

Smile Steering ECU

WOW!! This was the first time I have used this forum and I am impressed with the response that was given. How cool to have an avenue like this to correspond with fellow automotive enthusiast's with a common Lexus bond. I am confused though with the idea that the GS 430 already has the ltuned steering ECU. I dont know why the ltuned stocking dealers would have it available with all the other hop-up parts if were already in the car. Can anyone confirm if this car already has it from the factory? Happy Motoring!!

Grover....

The true test is when you install the Ltuned ECU unit (make sure you mark it cuz the stock unit and the Ltuned unit are identical...down to the part #s) you bought and take your 430 for a spin.....does the steering feel any different? Suppose to feel more stiff...not so loosey goosey....LOL!! If it feels the same...then you got Ltuned (sporty) steering ECU already in your 430....then you sell to me.

well on my gs400 it was the old ecu and after putting in the ltuned it's stiffer specially at high speed. that's nice. and someone said that coz' of the improvement, since gs430 they put in the ltuned ecu as standard
