Looks great - did you take apart the calipers or just painted assembled? You could do a write-up.

you know i did not do them myself.

had the mechanic at the shop i go to, do it. it was their idea to try to match paint as close as possible to car. they got spray paint from napa.

he took them off the car, and disassembled them. then he cleaned all the rust off them and the rotors. then he painted them with several coats, letting them dry good in between. i know he hung them from a string or twine to dry. i really like how he painted the hubs and then the spacers when i added those.

if you need more information i can ask and will pass it on.

i am very pleased with the look. they were crudy and rusty looking before.

thank you for the compliment

How long were the cars in the shop? With several coats, it takes more than a day to cure. I'm surprised the tech was able to handle it without smudging if the cars were in there for only a few hours. Did he spray clearcoat too or just the color?

the cars were in the shop for about 5-6 hrs each . the tech did this on the side, while i was getting all the tom's braces installed.. it went so well that when wife got her car we did the same thing when she got all her braces.

i just double checked with owner of shop to make sure i'm telling it right and he verified the painting process.

it was summertime and the coats only took about an 2hrs each to dry. not real hot out , mid - upper 70's

no clearcoat. he used some spray paint from napa auto works. it has a 500 degree rating.

some added information. really has nothing to do with the rest of the story. but i want to tell you about my mechanic.
the tech is a Vietnamese guy who i can hardly understand. but boy, does he pays attention to detail.
sometimes i think he takes longer to do stuff than what some of you guys on club lexus say it takes you, to do the same. but i know it has been done right. they say he has $40,000 in tools. needless to say, he is the only one to work on my car. he had an ES300 that he sold but he loves working on my lexus.
i started out paying $65 an hr, but the owner was whinning that since i bring all my own parts he does not make any money there. so to make him happy i agreed to pay $75 an hr but only Ahn works on my car.

i just had a 4 wheel alignment done on each car for $57 apiece. much better price than any other place around here.

i was going to use the lexus dealership for all the service when i got these cars. but i stumbled across this shop when i was getting some new tires. and they are alot cheaper than the dealer. of course there are no loaner cars so thats not as nice. both cars are around 55,000 miles now so i'm not worried about any warrenty.

hope i didn't bore you to death with all that

thank you

the cars had just been washed and then i used the Zaino tire dressing on them. i love that stuff.

i looked on the pictures and saw where i missed some dirt on the emblems so i need to work on cleaning those better. all in all those chrome wheels clean up real easy.

on the brakes. looks fantastic. hopefully brake dust doesn't blemish the quality of the paintjob!

this is a little off topic, but i notice you had Michelin Pilot Sport A/S. How noisy are they? I've got the stock bridgestones and they are horrible!
