No, IMO you should not.
Cutting springs can make for a very dangerous and unpredictable suspension.
If you want lower, sell the springs you've got and get another pair, or go for coilovers.

Like Dave said, NO. By cutting the springs, even a half a coil, will cause your front end to be very bouncy. Since the GS is very top heavy, it will put to much pressure on the springs/shocks causing premature wear on them. I know this because with my very first eibach spring setup, the shop cut a half a coil to get me lower in the front and it drove like hell. Plus, since I have HID lighting, it was bouncing all over the road at night. Not a good or safe setup. My advice is to either get different springs, larger wheels or do a coilover system... Take by advice....

Ride terrible?
It depends on what type of coilovers you get.
For instance, Tein has many different flavours, like SS, HA, CS, Flex, RA, ...
All of these are differently priced, and are differently tuned.
I have Apexi WS coilovers, and I think that my ride is pretty much close to stock. I used to have KGMM springs and I hated the ride, too stiff.

I would personally go with the Daizens... However, make sure you upgrade your shocks. By lowering your car more than an inch, you put more stress on the shocks. The stock shocks will probably blow out within 6 months.
