coilover installer
I just recieved my coilovers today and I need a shop to install them on my GS. Anybody know if there is a shop that has experience with Lexus? I know there are plenty of shops in who have experience with Hondas, but I am looking for a shop that knows how to take care of my Lexus the right way. Any suggestions?

Mex_lex,
Theres a lot of good shops in this area it all depends on how much you are willing to spend, seeing as its just coilovers it shouldn't run you more than $300 and thats on the high side. I havent done anything but order parts from them but Noah, at Caliente Automotive/AirparkAutoTEK really cares about his rides and his work and he mainly does Subies and Nissan's but hes got all diff. cars coming into the shop check em out

I'm getting mine installed on my 2IS tomorrow at Apex Motorsports in Tempe. I don't have any previous experience with them, so hoping they're good. I can let you know how it went down when it's all done. Another place I considered was Motortek in Mesa. They claim to be Lexus experts and were helpful when I talked to them, but their estimate for install was $500-800, considerably higher than everywhere else. Anyway, their website is http://www.motortekaz.com.

i've heard good and bad come from apex but they're under new management now and have beenf or the past couple of years. it's now owned by a former ford master mechanic or something rather and it was always his dream to own a race shop so he finally made it come true.
hopefully him and his shop are doing good work.
azis350 - how much is the coilover swap running you at apex?

Ok, had my work done today at Apex. Just to clarify, I had Tein h-tech springs installed instead of coilovers. I was originally going with CS coilovers but opted not to because I wanted a more moderate drop. Anyway, I thought they did a fine job, and were careful with my car. They let me go back into the shop to watch and didn’t seem to mind me chatting them up or eyeballing the work they were doing. Kenny (I think he’s the manager) is totally cool & helpful, and Will (the tech) was capable & thorough. He even helped straighten out my Tanabe exhaust that was hanging a little lower on one side. Their shop is small and not as impressive as some of the bigger shops in town, but it’s the quality of the work that counts. Lots of Honda tuner stuff lying around, so maybe that's their prime market.
They charged me $225 for the spring install, which is the same as what I was quoted by Tokyo Speed Pros & Vivid Racing. I never got a lower price than $225 anywhere (for springs or coilovers) so if they quoted you $190 I’d say that’s pretty good. It took about 3 hours for install. I can see where the EDFC install adds up because of the time involved in routing the cabling back to the controller. Removing/reinstalling all the paneling and trim pieces in our Lexus are a real pain in the badonkey.
So I had a good experience with them and will definitely go back for future work. They can get just about anything at a fair price. I did buy my springs and exhaust from them.

I tried Tokyo Speed Pros first, because they are closest to me. But those idiots kept insisting the CS coilovers weren't available yet for the IS and repeatedly failed to call me back after they "checked availability with their suppliers". Going to their shop didn't help, and they don't respond to emails, so they lost my business for good. I hope they do a better job on your GS.

azis350 - how was the quality of the edfc install? the wiring from the suspension to the cabin, the location of your controller, etc... i'd like to check it out in person if possible sometime this week.

Cliff, I opted to go with springs instead of coilovers, so no EDFC for me. I think the EDFC is too much of a gimmick to justify the cost anyway. My comments abut the install complications were based on my experience with installing a sub box in my IS. I might show up with my bucket at one of the local meets soon.

I made an appointment at TSP for my coilover install but their next opening isn't until Friday. I am trying to decide where else should I go because I need my coilovers installed asap. Has anybody had any experiences with Superior Racing Development? They claim to be specialists in Toyota/Lexus.
