Join the GMP team and other European automotive enthusiasts for a fun filled day at the track on Friday May 6th.

Palmetto Motorsports Club has extended an exclusive invitation to share this day with registered GMP Performance clients. The intimate PMC format guarantees a minimum of five, twenty minute sessions, with additional sessions as time permits, all in one day.



Registration includes all of the following:



...+an abundant amount of track time

+pre-event vehicle inspection (required)

+track wheel/tire transport to and from the track

+onsite track support (brake bleed/tire pressure)

Registration for the THAWOUT Track Day is currently available and an all-inclusive event ticket is $349 for driver's ed participants with assigned instructors* and $299 for individuals with Solo and Super Solo credentials.



*Driver's Ed participants must be signed up at least two weeks prior to the event to organize instructor assignment.

Palmetto Motorsport Club members are entitled to exclusive track time on special club days throughout each month. These days are typically relaxed run groups with limited amounts of vehicles on course. Enthusiasts are divided into three groups; "Driver's Education" for novices with instructors, "Solo" for those more experienced and "Super Solo" for Racing Vehicles.

For those not registering to participate in the TrackDay, we welcome you to join us at CMP as spectators. CMP has recently added a karting track and kart sessions are available for $20 per ten minutes.



Helmets are required with long sleeves and long pants. Helmet rentals are available at the track. An all day rental is $10.



Pre-Event Tech Inspections are performed at GMP Performance free of charge for participants.



There will also be an opportunity for enthusiasts to get on track for Touring laps. A series of controlled speed laps will be performed for those looking to familiarize themselves with what its like to be on track. These laps will be held during the mandatory quiet hour at lunch.



A THAWOUT TrackDay Caravan will be leaving from GMP Performance at



6:00am. Approx. travel time is 1 hour and 30 minutes.

6:00am : Trackside Tech Inspection Opens

7:45am : Mandatory Driver's Meeting

8:00am : Morning Track Sessions Begin

12:00pm : PMC Luncheon/Touring Laps

1:00pm : Afternoon Track Sessions Begin

5:00pm : Track Sessions Concluded

We would like to invite everyone out Saturday, May 7th for this years THAWOUT open house, chip day and get together from 10am to 3pm. THAWOUT is a European Automotive Treffen where we invite enthusiasts out to our location to enjoy a day with a car show, music, shop tours, manufacturer's representatives and displays, chip tuning, product specials, a raffle and more.



There is no admission charge for Saturday's events, and all age...s are welcome. Feel free to bring your friends and family and join us.

For Saturday's event, vehicles will be parked by Make (Audi, BMW, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes, Porsche, Volvo, VW and Various) and people's choice awards will be presented to crowd favorite in each make. This is a casual format and everyone who is registered for THAWOUT will be eligible to be voted on.



The APR Motorsports Team will have their race cars on display and president Bill Baas will host a "Why we Race" presentation.



VIP Registration is $20 and includes a voter ballot, goodie bag with sponsor coupons, lunch ticket, event T-Shirt and a raffle ticket. Please state your shirt size when ordering.

Participants can register the day of the show for $10 and registration includes a voter ballot and raffle ticket.

Lunch will be catered by Waldhorn Retaurant. The menu consists of a bratwurst, Sauerkraut, German potato salad, pretzel roll and butter and mustard.



Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Charlotte Rolling Bobcats

The event is held at GMP Performance at 710 Pressley Pressley Road.

We'll be there regardless, my wife will be driving her E36 M3. She'd be the instructor (I'll be taking pictures, playing pit crew and driving the truck/trailer)and is already on the CMP Turn 1 instructor list and also instructs for PCA, BMWCCA, THSCC, NASA-SE and a few others.

EDIT - Just found out she already got a request from Turn 1 to help instruct that day so we're all set. See you there? Taking the GS out on the track?

THAWOUT 2011 weekend is finally here and we are excited! We start tomorrow morning as our Track Day caravan rolls out at 6:00am for Carolinas Motorsports Park. We will return home Friday evening to get ready for the open house at the shop Saturday from 10am to 3pm.

Saturday's open house is free to attend and we have a Hunter Road Force tire balancing demonstration at 11am, followed by an APR "Why we Race" presentation at 1pm. BBS will also be here with their newest wheels on display.


As of now, the weather for Saturday's open house looks good with sunshine and a high of 78 degrees. We will be reprogramming Audi, Porsche and VW ECU's all day, as well as offering a number of product specials and a raffle, that includes some impressive givaways such as a free ECU upgrade, $1,000 worth of Fabspeed and a FREE set of WHEELS from MRR!!!
