Cool ClubLexus East Coast Summertime MEET

ClubLexus East Coast Summertime Meet

OK Guys, time to show some love for the East Coast. There are a group of us trying to develop a meet within the next couple months here on the East Coast, and I’d like to get some feedback.

Here is the rough draft:

An AutoX, track event with possibly some driving, or **driving school** (novice) event, mixed in with a cookout, door prizes, and general show & shine hangout. Informal and fun, and also welcoming enough to the casual Lexus owner who is intersted in what their cars can do; almost family oriented.

If not a track event, than a strip event similar to the dragstrip meet last fall, but all others activities remain the same.

Link To ATL Drag Strip Meet Page

What we really want to do is have an informal meet with existing CL members from all over the eastern seaboard, *and* build the CL membership using our local dealers to spread the word; we currently have good local support from them, which is why we need to keep it near NC.

Currently considering Lowe’s Motor Speedway (LMS), Virginia International Raceway (VIR), something in GA, or just about anything in between; even a large parking lot, where we can possibly set up some cones for some driving.

Costs? I bet the only costs to attendees would be if they wanted to participate in the driving school or AutoX event, but I have absolutely nothing yet.

We are also gathering names for donating vendors.

Please post feedback here or PM.

Sounds cool, I'm game. I'll just need to know some dates so i can get the time off and plan a road trip.

Dex:

I'll check with my buddy Jeff to see where the Porsche guys did their autocross last week.

I know my GF has done the Car Guys class in Charlotte before, but I don't see any entries on their calendar right now for LMS and they can get pretty pricey for a group. I'll dig around for some other alternatives.

I'd never heard of it before today, but there is a motorsports park about 60 miles from Charlotte called Carolina Motorsports Park. These things rack up some $$$ to rent, so we should start knocking on doors for sponsors. Perhaps our local Lexus dealer (who happens to own a NASCAR race team) can help us out with getting access to LMS. Let's plan to check with them this weekend while we're there... I may be up at SRT next week, so I'll chat with Mo & Marken as well.

I'll keep looking for other alternatives. Heck, I'd also be up for another Asheville meet. Maybe we should consider an event centered at the Harrah's Casino in the Smoky Mountains of NC? Some gambling at night, driving around the twisties around Blowing Rock, etc the daytime. Just chucking out ideas...

I'm down for an East Coast meet. The driving school idea is awesome. Cookout sounds cool, but assuming this is a single day track event, it might be hard to find time/resources to dedicate behind a grill... maybe a restaurant might be easier? If your looking for parking lots, RFK Stadium in Washington, DC (former home of the Washington Redskins) is excellent. Mercedes-Benz used the RFK parking lot on a track day for their AMG line, and the National Grand Prix (http://www.nationalgrandprix.com) will be hosted there as well.

If it's in Atlanta, I'm game. Driving schools sounds fun! I'll have to do that.

I'll second that. If this meet was in Maryland then I'd definitely be able to go! I'll need to go to at least one meet sooner or later, this seems like the perfect opportunity.

Question NYC

Is there any possibility that there will be a meet closer to NYC or NJ?
