Greetings Lexonians !

Yesterday when the sun hit the right angle I noticed these long, small scratches on my side windows. They are maybe 3 to 4 inches, and
very light. I think maybe I did this myself when I scraped off the ice using a standard ice scraper? Is this possible?

Are there different types of ice scrapers? Can they really scratch your windows?

I can't imagine how else this happened. I don't even know if I should do anything about it.

Driver and passenger side vs rear or both? Reason I ask is on this forum I saw a post regarding water treatment (ie teflon or other) on our side windows to help with visibility in the wet weather. I wonder if this can be scratched? Glass is pretty hard but definitely can be scratched with a hard enough material.... Just a thought.

It's the passenger side front. Immediately to right of front passenger, and a little on the front driver side window.

I suspect I did it with my car scraper. But there's really no way to avoid that. In the morning, I'm in a hurry, and I have to get the ice off.

It's very close to the surface, so I'm not sure if it's 'water treatment'. It shows up pretty clearly when the direct sun is on it. In the shade, or later in the day, you'd have difficulty even knowing it's there.

Meguiar's has a product called "water spot remover" which I have used to remove spots that were etched into the glass from chemicals and direct sunlight baking them in. Like yours, you can only see them when the sun hits them at a certain angle. All the glass cleaner in the world will not remove these stains. I'm thinking that if you try using this on the light scratches and lines, that you might be able to buff them out. It's named Water Spot Remover and Multi Surface Polish. It works on glass, glossy paint, chrome, and hard plastic.

Barkeepers Friend, $1.49 at most any grocery store and superior to anything you'll find in the car care department. Add water to make a paste, excellent for water spots and your best chance of removing those scratches.
