Hey all, been stranded twice in my 350 with a little less than a 1/4 tank of gas supposedly left on my fuel gauge while doing a long highway drive, miles left display said between 30-40 last time. Never usually have this problem doing regular city driving as I can get it on E and it'll still drive. Anybody got an idea what this could be?

A bad fuel gauge sending unit? I had this problem in my old GS. Does your low fuel light come on also? Also I'm not sure maybe the fuel pump is over heating on long trips. Then again you say no issues city drives till E.

Agree with OP. Sending unit is going. Set your odometer and go by that. It's good to keep the car at no less then half a tank because the fuel pump uses the gas in your tank to stay cool and not get hot. When you drive your car down to 1/4 tank or less then you reduce the fuel pumps longevity.

Normally I fill up around 1/2 tank. Unfortunately, the stretch of highway I was on late at night had gas stations closed/far between open ones. Regardless, the car shouldn't be doing that. Guess it's a project for the summer, lolz. Still a bit odd it's only doing that on highway drives (4+ hours), and not all the time at that (as I've tested this running it down a few times on other drives and it's only happened twice so far)

Agreed, look into replacing the sending unit. FYI, the internal fuel pump and the sending unit in our cars are two different items. If you remove the rear seat bottoms, you'll see. I THINK, the sending unit is on the passenger side.

It appears there are two fuel sender units in the tank from the part diagram. 83320-53010 and 83320-59515. 59515 seems to be the one on the passenger side, and the only one eBay, and Amazon seem to be selling. Is 53010 part of the fuel pump?
