Default F sport Sound generator Intake swap.

I have a 450h that doesn't have the sound generator on the intake like the 350 f-sport. I found a used full oem intake system for an f-sport with sound generator online for $82 shipped.
Does anyone think this will have adverse effects on my engine if I swapped it out? I know my engine is tuned to be more efficient and stock output is 286 from the V6 vs 306 on the 350 f sport.

There is an old saying we want what we don't have. I want more grunt.

For what it's worth, I have done this on my 3rd gen gs450h. I have seen no adverse affects from adding the tube and sound generator, as the tube is behind the MAF. I did have to buy a 3.5 inch to 3 inch reducer intake coupler as the GS450h intake tube is actually a little narrower at the end vs the 4gs fsport intake tube. I have noticed a throatier engine sound from the sound creator, very addictive.

Performance wise, I feel like I lost a little bit of throttle response but not enough to reverse this modification. Overall very happy with the added sound that this modification creates.

Is idle and low speed louder? Or only when you step on it?
Any difference in sound in eco or normal mode?
Or do you only notice the sound generator in Sport/Sport plus.

Idle and low speed are the same. The car gets throaty when you step on it. Probably not too different in eco or normal mode (3gs450h doesn't have that).

Consider this: the sound creator is simply a diaphragm that will become "active" when air is passed to the unit. The only way to activate it is to run air to the unit when accelerating. I think it enhances the driving experience, as it is loud when you want it to be and non existent otherwise.

Thanks for all the info. Did you have to use the intake reducer on the engine end or the intake box end?

I guess a good first step for me is to check if the 4gsh has the 3.5" ends like the 4gs 350h f-sport.

The sound generator makes real noise starting close to 4K rpm. Anything less and it's silent as a lamb.

This will be an interesting mod to a hybrid. You'll have to let us know how you like it.

My experience with my Highlander Hybrid is that the engine speed/RPMs are often quite disconnected from the throttle inputs as it switches between full electric and varying levels of electric assist. Lots of up and down in the rev range. It doesn't bother me as the engine is pretty quiet. Installing a sound generator that makes itself immediately known in that 4k+ RPM range might make for some interesting noises as the RPMs constantly go up and down.

3.5 inch to 3 inch reducer intake coupler attached to air box and intake tube. Note this is a 3gs 450h.

Intake coupler on the intake box. The 4gs intake tube fits snugly on the throttle body. I'll update this post with a photo this evening.Updated!

Thanks for all the pictures, really big help. I checked part number on mylparts.com and apparently the 2013 450h has the same exact intake box as the 2013 350 f-sport. So it should just be a direct swap for me.

Anybody looking for the 4GS F-Sport intake tube with sound generator. I got it for $82 including shipping from this used parts site:

Here is a side by side comparison of the 450h intake tube vs the 350 F-Sport.

Any ideas if other cars outside of Lexus use this? I know the M5 has a sound generator but that is more digital, I wonder if other cars could use this as a mod to get more sound out of them.

That sound generator makes the V6 sounds like a V8 under heavy throttle.

Anyone knows if the aftermarket FSport intake kit for the IS350 will fit our GS350 without mods?
