Default Smaller tires size ok? 265/60/18

Long story but looking at getting OEM Tundra 18" wheels without tires and I happen to have a very good of 265/60/18 taken off my Durango when I lease returned. Will those tires be ok? I did tire size comparison tool and it's about .4" more narrow and just slightly less tall. However, if this is risky in any way I'll just not do it.

I'd say just do it, I'm interested in something like that too. By the way what year LX do you have? Please post pictures once installed thanks!

I ended finding a crazy good deal on some new Tundra takeoffs with the stock tires 275 65 20 so i didn't need to use the 18" tires. I love the look on them I had to modify the front center cabs by drilling a small hole. They look great imo makes the car look much less dated however the only concern is that even though its an oem toyota wheel it feels extremely heavy. Like 60lbs weight with tire each wheel maybe 15 lbs more than the 16" wheel. I wonder if this is going to decrease mpg i think i know the answer though.

My vehicle is a 98 lx470

WOW! Looks Awesome! They are 20"s but sure makes the SUV new again! How's the ride and handling? Heavier wheels might make your braking distance longer as well as your brake pads fade faster, only time will tell. Thanks for the upload!

We have a customer at work that always brings in his 2014 LX570 and has us clean and either coat or seal his oem wheels on the truck AND an additional set of the same wheels with summer tires that he brings with him in trunk.

I gotta say, those stock wheels are NOT light. Probably by far the heaviest wheel/tire I've seen.

I am surprised you went with Tundra 20's. I know alot of guys are running the Tundra Rock Warrior wheels on their 100's over on ih8mud, but those are 17's.

Please report back with how the ride quality is with that kind of low profile tire and large wheel.

I actually have a completely different plan and will be installing a spare set of OEM 16's (98-00 LX470 wheels) on our 07 because tires are cheaper for 16's and you can run a 75 profile vs the OEM 60 profile that comes on the stock 18's. From all accounts that I have read, downsizing and running a taller tire will give you better performance pretty much in every scenario (unless you're into taking hard corners like a sports car which the LX certainly was not intended to be).

You're absolutely right about these being the heaviest wheels I've seen because I'm pretty strong and can barely pick them up in a way that doesn't dirty my clothes. The older gentleman (in his 50's) that sold them to me couldn't even get them out of the back of his truck so I had to do it. It's been only a week but thus far no difference in ride quality on the streets and highway. Gas consumption also seems the same.

If anyone in SoCal is interested in my stock 16's with almost new tires let me know!

God it looks so much better. I remember how much older our 2001 looked when parked next to a neighbors 1998 with chrome wheels from a 2004. (this was back in 2008)

You can go as far as a 305-75, but you may get a bit of rub at articulation extremes. Sweet spot for me and a lot of others is 285-75 on 16" oem wheels.
