First off, thank you to everyone that has taken this journey with me to find the right LS 460 for us. Through quite a few trials and tribulations, we have finally brought home a 2013 SWB Ultra Luxury, Nebula Gray with Flaxen interior (70,233 miles, $39,500).

For those familiar with our story, we were to purchase the 2013 Nebula Gray last month but the seller backed out of the deal at the 11th hour after learning he was approved for a Tesla loan without having to unload the LS. I forged on after the loss, biding my time. Fortunately, we still have a great LS 430 to help ease the disappointment.

Last Sunday I saw a white 2013 pop up for sale at a local Mercedes dealership. Actually, it was mislabeled and turned out to be a black F Sport (listed for $46K but a few days later the dealer tried to enticed me with $41.5K). On the way to see the car I thought to myself that this could be the one and, if it is, I want to make sure the 2013 Nebula Gray was not coming back on market. Taking SW15LS/Steve’s advice, I reached out to the Nebula Gray owner and let him know my predicament – I shared that I was about to possibly pull the trigger on a white 2013 and that I still thought about his LS. Had he given any thoughts to the short-/long-term plans for his LS? If he was going to keep it indefinitely then at least I would have the closure I needed. However, if he contemplated putting it back on the market this year then I would be willing to wait for it.

He honestly had not given much thought to the LS until I contacted him (mostly because he’s been enjoying his new Model S so much). I was glad to turn his attention back to the LS. Last month, we agreed on $38,500, but now he wanted $40,000. I balked at this and thought it absurd! I didn’t feel slighted when he backed out of the deal last month but I sure felt it now. I reminded him the front rotors and pads still needed to be done. Ultimately, we agreed on $39,500 (his original listing price) – I can live with that since it is still less than the majority of 2013 460 base trim listings in California.

He wanted to close the deal the next day (Monday) but I couldn’t make it work and told the seller that Saturday (today) would be the earliest. He shared that they had just sold his wife’s Prius and waiting a week may give his wife too much opportunity to get settled into the LS and then she may want to keep it for herself, permanently. I acknowledged the real possibility of his wife coming from a Prius and falling completely in love with the LS, and if that is the case then it was meant to be for her to have the car. Saturday was the best I could do. I resisted posting on CL about the renewed hope. I went to work during the week and tried to think as little about the car as possible. I didn’t want to get my hopes up too high, only to have it all dashed away again. Fortunately, things went according to plan and I am now putting in an order for Centric Premium rotors and some Posi-Quiet Ceramic brake pads for the LS 460!

Thank you to everyone for your advice, guidance, encouragement, links to other LS listings, and for commiserating throughout the entire search. Your support along the way gave me proper perspective when I started to waver and falter, and you helped strengthen my resolve when I grew weary of the search. I am grateful to the entire CL community for the shared knowledge and experience, and for helping us find the perfect car for our family. Now, onto the fun part…

Good for you! So glad to hear that it all finally worked out, and I am honored to know that I had a little bit of influence in pushing you to soften up a little and make something work with him. The $1,000 extra you paid will mean nothing when it comes to your enjoyment of the car.

Thank you for planting the seed in my mind, Steve. It took a few more weeks of looking, and not finding anything remotely close to the NB UL, for me to come to terms with paying a little more and being infinitely happier! Many thanks, my friend.

It will be nice to have the weekends back for other things. For now I'm just soaking it in and still need to explore the rest of the car and menu settings and options. I already feel that Normal rides just as well, if not a little better on the freeway than our 430, despite having 19s.

I was against the whole mouse contraption initially, but now really like the airy and spacious cabin afforded by pushing the nav screen back. When I first test drove some 2007s I felt a little cramped and noticed the smaller confines compared to the 430, but not so in the 2013+ 460. Lovin' the car and life right now!

Yeah once you get used to the remote touch it really is fine, and you're right that it lets them move the back screen back and into the dash which opens the dash up.

You will really enjoy the car!

Am already loving the car! Really love that Flaxen each time I enter the car, and really puts a smile on my face just walking up to her, like seeing my wife and daughter. The 430 is a wonderful car too, and I do take it for granted, but the 430 just doesn't stir the soul nor excite me when I drive it.

Braces look rust-free too:

I was going to order the WeatherTech floor liners like we have on the 430, but kind of like the "Lexus LS" carpet mats at the moment. Plus, the black WeatherTech liners seem to show more dirt and marks after a year now. What are you and comotiger using, Steve?

I use rubber mats in the winter, but I like the carpet mats most of the time. To me the rubber mats detract from the luxury feel of the interior.

He and I have Lloyd Luxe mats with custom Lexus logos on them, there's a thread on here, I will post it. The luxe mats are much thicker than the OEM mats.

Hello Fto1, you did it!!!! Congrats on the new car. It looks gorgeous, and rust-free to boot . Looking forward to seeing more pics as you explore your car!

I still have the winter mats in the car. Will switch to the Luxe mats soon!! They are very plush and much nicer than the carpet mats that came with the car. Embroidered logos would be nice but the metal logos work quite nicely. Check it out!
