Default CD slot cell phone holder

Has anyone tried to use a "CD slot" cell phone holder in the SC430 with the OEM radio? If so, what worked for you?

Nope. So far just putting my cell in one of the cupholder holes. Would like a better solution especially for road trips.

I was using one of these for the longest time just setting it over the closed cup holder area. That worked fine, but if you need to see your phone for Waze or music streaming on a long trip, its not as safe to monkey with.

I just laid the phone in it and it is sticky enough that it stayed put.

This one is cheap enough but looks decent. I think I'll be the guinea pig to try it out.

What if you accidentally press the radio cover button on SC430? Does the auto cover sense the resistance and retract?

Here are the two types I have.

this one clips on and works great in my Trans Am because it has small vents.

Last time I tried the vent holder on my Samsung Note 3 it snapped one of fins on my vent. From mechanical standpoint both CD slot and vent fins are delicate pieces. I don't think they are designed to withstand any weight hanging on to it, not to mention on SC430 the hazard of radio cover crashing into it is going to be a real concern.

I am not following you in regard to the radio cover, what do you mean?

never had any issues in any of my cars with the vent magnet.

By "radio cover" I was just referring to the wooden sliding door that would cover the radio panel. Having a CD slot holder would mean it must stay open all the time I imagine. Unless you disable the switch by unplugging it behind the ash tray sooner or later you will hit the button by accident and I wonder if the motor of the sliding door has any sensor to stop it.
Just speaking from my personal experience that I was very happy with the vent magnet holder until it snapped the fin. Then I realized it wasn't designed to handle much weight and to have a $5 piece causing a $$$ damage is just not worth it most of times.

i see your point about the cd slot holder...
we are using iPhones 5 and 6 and they might be lighter, I push the vent magnet all the way against the vent blades which provides more surface to lean against. Hope that provides a good visual.

when I purchased my SC430, all four of the vents were broken and I replaced them all. The two on the far left and right were a real pain to remove but they all work now! I picked them up from salvage yards on ebay!

I don't like the vent holder, that why I bough the Koomus. It provides the stability and the magnet is strong. You just have to disconnect the cable from the switch (5 minute job). I know I will loose the ability to close the radio door which I do not care. I use my IPhone for the music and if I need to listen to the CD, it's only take thirty seconds to remove the Koomus.

I bought the magnetic cell phone holder on Amazon listed below that clamps to the air vent. It works very well with iphone 6 - no issues.
