I am aware that the 2006 and 2007 same body style but in 2007 it got a new engine from a 3.0 to a 3.5 v6
I have heard and read that the 2006 doesn't need a Timing belt service for the 3.0 engine
but I have also read the 3.5 2007 and newer gs needs timing belt service for the 3.5

However I would assume that that would be recommended around 90,000 miles
when I look on Lexus website at service intervals
how come for the 2006 and 2007 gs models I don't see timing belt service recommended on either of the model years for the GS
I am assuming it would be recommended at 90k because that's when the timing belt is recommended on the GX470 models.
i know different cars different engines.

but I'm wondering
when is it recommended
And anyone knows why Lexus doesn't have it on the service intervals?
I know I have read several things where some people say they do and others insist they don't need to have the timing belt or gears replaced on the GS models for 06 or 07
can I please get some assistance on this question.

I am looking at a few 2006 and 2007 Lexus GS models.

One has 245k on it I know that's alot of miles on it but the service history looks good seems like the one owner always had it services at Lexus but it doesn't show anything in the car fax history about the timing service being done.
Reason I like this is because its at a Lexus dealer it doesn't have any current issues to worry about and its under 6,000 dollars for a 2007 GS350 AWD

and if i picked it up for 5999 they are asking buy it and not have to fiance and i would then just be able to put another 1500 or 2000 into it to have the timing service waterpump tune up and other services done thats would be needed like fluids changes and all and id be happy with that

anyone think this is a bad idea ?
like i know the miles on it are very high.

it's either do this or
just put 3000 dollars into fixing some issues with my 07 ES350 that currently has 170k on it
and i really would like to get a different car and i love the body of the 3rd gen GS

The gs350 has a timing chain so no worries there. I believe the 06 300 also has a chain. 350 is the better engine though.

the other question is with that miles if well taken care of whats the most miles anyone has ever seen on these cars like right now with over 240k has anyone ever seen a 2007 reach 350k or 400k without having a engine or tranmission replaced
im not thinking like 5 years down the road for me ill have another 100k on the car withing 2 years i drive about 45 to 50k per year on average
and i always take care and have maintance done correct and this looks like the past owners have had it done correclty also

and im going to assume that a lexus dealler would have sent it to a auction instead of holding onto it if it wasn;t in great conidtion with those miles.

Stayaway from the 2006 GS300's they have carbon buildup issues, aswell as transmission problems. If you want less headache go for 07-up GS350 or GS460

most likely it will be a 07 or up GS350 because i would like the AWD living in utah in the winters it would come in handy.

however what is the difference between the GS430 and the GS460 ? also isn't the GS430 and 460 belt driven and not chain because on the 430 i saw where it had service intervails i think for the timing belt

I havent heard of any having issues with the 06 430's and hear they are stout. But also have to consider they're pretty rare cars

Why a 430 and not a 07-up gs350? I believe the gs350 has more power, chain timing, and all around pretty reliable.

I've got an '06 300 AWD. No transmission issues (yet) thankfully.. just keeping the fluid changed. The manual says it doesn't need changed..... BS. @130k miles, the fluid came out black as coal (no burnt smell... just very dirty). Changing the fluid keeps the solenoids and valve bodies clean which is the typical issues (solenoid failure) on the '06 transmissions. The engine in the '06 is direct injected only which leads to carbon buildup and more maintenance. It's easy enough to correct with media blasting (done to many BMW, Audi, VW, etc.. direct injected engines)... and a lot of shops that specialize in BMWs offer the service. The '06 does have a chain and is supposed to last the life of the engine.

If I were you and knew what I know now... I'd look for an '07+ However we got our '06 for right at 10k with new tires and brakes and dealer service records...
