Default Sigh... Kids

I happened to be looking out the window just in time to catch this happening. You best believe I went and chased them down. The scratch goes down to the metal in a small area and the whole scratch is essentially a dent so a buff or respray won't fix it.

Ugh, that's terrible! And, right in a very conspicuous place too...

Did the parents offer to pay for repairs? Sorry for your misfortune....

I caught up with the mother who gave me her phone number and to contact her with the repair estimate. I have a feeling though she's underestimating the cost of repair though. Hopefully she doesn't go ghost on me...

Yeah your looking at a respray on the whole hood and dealer charge like 1000+ for it. Don't take it to a local shop cause silver is the most difficult color to match.

I'm taking the car to Lexus and nowhere else. I don't want the headache of another shop trying to match the liquid platinum.

Oh holy crap. Thank goodness you have it on video. At least she can't deny it. Best of luck.

Hate to be the starter of bad thoughts in your mind, but if she does go "ghost" on you... If she's local, an eye for an eye.. Or in this case, a scratch for two flat tires.....

Personally? I would turn it into my insurance company, it's a comprehensive claim that won't impact your rates. Give them the video, and the woman's number, and let them fight with her. That's what you pay them for.

I was considering that also, but was not sure if I'd get anywhere with the insurance, or if it would even be worth it. I'm getting a written estimate now and will call my insurance when I get home. I'll let you all know how it goes.

+1 This is the way to give you the least headache. If you want to be nice, you can give her the estimate first and then if she balks, just say you wanted to give her the opportunity to work it out but don;t want any headaches and will turn it in to insurance to get your car fixed asap if she does not agree.
