DVD Headrest systems LS 460
Has anyone installed a rear passenger DVD headrest system in an LS 460? If so, where did you go, what system, do it yourself or dealer, etc.? Thanks, I just want a system to match the interior of course but that also looks OEM.

any aftermarket stereo shop should be more than able to do the job..... its not too terribly difficult.. just make sure the product looks they way u want..

Depending on the model year, you need to be wary of replacing the front headrests. IIRC, beginning in 2010, active headrests reduce the chances of whiplash during a collision. The front headrests adjust automatically, hence the word "active". Any replacement headrests would need to work properly in that regard.

Good point, Gbp. Here's a product that is compatible with active headrest systems in LS460.

They are expensive, but you have to spend the money to get the OEM look. Furthermore, unless you are a pretty good DIYer, it will easily cost a few hundred to get it professionally installed. As Shubumi said, you should also get quotes from auto AV installers. They have access to other aftermarket systems that might provide a better value than the product I linked to.
Keep us updated on your decisions in this matter. I am also considering it. Right now, my sons are happy with portable headrest DVD players. Not an elegant option, but it works.

So I posted today what I did regarding the headrest DVD players. It was close to OEM, not perfect but compared to $1149 just for the units then install price, I did this all for about $250. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...014-ls460.html

Your installation with the 10 inch screen is very nice. Thanks for posting the detailed install video. I am tempted to make this conversion from my setup with all the dangling wires and cables.

2014?
Thanks AznRacer, I did install a 10.1 Naviskauto unit but would love to have a cleaner look. Do you know if the supplier you recommended has a system for 4th Gen LS's, additionally does anyone know how to access the head unit to tap into the ML with DVD on a 2014?

Thanks, driftgirl. Do you have an install thread for the seat back trays?

Does anyone have a pic with headrest monitors on a 2013+ hooked up to the factory DVD? I'd love to see an install, mine is good for now but attached to the headrest vs. headrest monitor just doesn't compare, I just like things very nice and neat and OEM.

Nate, your headrest DVDs look very OEM. Look at the OEM DVD systems in all the flagships including the LS500. They look very similar to yours. Agreed, they are built up from the seat back rather than from the headrest, but their positioning looks just like yours. IMO, the headrest monitors are nice, but they will keep moving with the seat position of the driver, unlike your install. With my black leather seats, your install would be absolutely perfect for my car. I am jealous .

Thanks, it was still bothering me so here is what I actually did today to make it look more OEM, lol, I'm ****! I bought parchment spray paint from Amazon and took the units off, painted them and put them back, now it is much better.
