Moonroof wind noise on 2014 model
I've looked around here a little but have never found a fix for my issue.
I have a 2014 Luxury model and I typically drive 75 - 85mph to work/home each day.
When I have the moon roof shade closed, my car is super quiet.
When I open up the shade it gets MUCH louder.
There is a lot of wind noise that comes through.
I find this super annoying since I prefer to drive with the shade open at all times.
I took the car to my local dealer and they simply told me that they test drove a brand new GS350 and it was just as loud.
They told me that it appears that this is just the way it is.
Is anyone else having this same problem with the moonroof noise?
Did your dealer ever find a definite fix that you can share (with paperwork, TSB, something so that I can show my dealership)?
I think at this price point it is pretty sad that there is this much wind noise leaking through the moonroof.
My wife drives a 2012 Toyota Sienna and there is no discernible difference when she has her moonroof shade open or closed.
Thanks for your help!

I know people with '13s had a rattle and wind noise that were fixed by the dealers, but I believe they were told those issues were fixed for the '14 model.

I don't really buy this. At 75 mph in my '15, I have zero difference in noise with the shade opened or closed. My sunroof gives me no wind noise whatsoever.

I also have a '14 Luxury. Mine has the same symptoms. Dead quiet with the shade closed; noticeable wind noise with the shade opened at speeds above 60mph.
The roof doesn't leak water and I can't feel any air leaks with my hand in the moonroof area.
My nearby dealer told me close to the same thing: They all do that to an extent. If I leave the car with them, they are willing to dive into the problem, starting with adjustments and seal replacements.
I'm a bit apprehensive about letting them work on my car's roof area as I've had bad experiences in the past on other vehicles. The dealer would fix one problem but install new ones. Usually new scratches and scuffs in my interior along with new squeaks and rattles.
For now, I'll just try to live with it and maybe take the car in if the problem bugs me too much.

I had the rattle and wind noise on my 2013 Premium. Dealer adjusted the moonroof (didn't replace the rubber seals), and the rattle went away but the noise was still there. Didn't want to take it back again for any more adjustments or potential damage that could be caused by the dealer.

I've seen a few discussions on this. I have a '14 Lux and get the wind noise, and I noticed it in the other '14 GS's that I test-drove. I've heard of folks on here having it fixed by their dealers via a replacement rubber seal and/or adjustment. As for me, it doesn't bother me enough to do something about it. Rarely am I going fast enough on the highway at a time I actually want the shade open. Also it doesn't always make noise, definitely depends on conditions, though I haven't found a direct correlation yet.

When I had my 2014 IS, I had what sounds like a similar issue or maybe not. But since you have a 14 GS, you never know. I believe there was a TSB for it but I took it to the dealer and it took 2 trips before they finally fixed it.
Here is the TSB I found for the IS I had.

If anyone is dropping their car off to have this done take pics of the head liner before. I took my car in for this and the tech fixed the noise but left some grease marks on the head liner. I didn't have pics but my dealership was really cool when I told them what happened and they kept my car for an extra day to do a full interior detail.

LOL, just today I was using a new section of highway in the Dallas area (the 635 Express Lanes between 75 & 35). It's black top and the speed limit is 75mph. I just got new tires on Wednesday so I was paying special attention to noise. Very quiet...until I opened the sunroof shade. Noticeable wind noise, but it didn't sound like "something is wrong". Anyway after closing the shade, all quiet again.
I've also noticed the same thing in my previous cars, so I don't feel it's anything to be alarmed about.
