22.5 gallons

for something like this wouldn't you rather just google it and get an instant response rather than having to wait for someone to reply?

lol why is that? If you want to prove it yourself get your car low on gas until the light shines and fill her up. The pump will show 20-21 gallons of gas in her (Don't drive the car empty). Also the manual says its 22.5.

Can just about confirm. Ran car for 15+ miles on low fuel light. Filled up next morning and was able to put 20.8 in so I believe it

what's sort of annoying is that once you drop below like 27 or so miles of predicted range it just says LOW FUEL instead of continuing to give you range. one time i reset the trip computer once this came up, and used the trip computer to just slowly drive around until i got to what i believed was about 0 miles (i normally never let it get below 1/5 of a tank so please don't tell me it's a bad thing to do, i know it is but this was for science lol) and even then it only took like 21 gallons, the car wasn't actually showing any signs of being about to run out (coughing, sputtering)

someone correct me if i'm wrong but for whatever reason i think the 2000 LS 400 only has a 21.9 gallon tank, never understood why that was

Correct, 21.9gal for the '00 model. It was likely due to the enhanced EVAP equipment present for that model year, specifically addition of the ORVR (on-board refueling vapor recovery).
