Talking New to the forum and looking to purchase a GX

Hi guys,

I am new to the forum and is looking to acquire a pre-owned 2015-2016 GX460.

I know this is a Lexus and reliability wise is considered "bullet-proof", but are there any particular issues that I should be looking for?

Thanks a lot everyone!

Thanks,

Hi and welcome. While being a new GX owner with only 250 miles under the belt I can tell you the GX is regularly in the top 10 of most reliable and highest resale value of vehicles. It really is fairly bullet proof. The one thing I noticed is that there did seem to be an issue with some GX's having a slight alignment issue (see HERE) making it track a bit off to the right or left. Meaning if you want to go straight the steering wheel might be slightly cocked to the left or right. This can be checked via your test drive on a level highway and if you see something amiss can be corrected by an alignment check by the dealer. Other than that there were some issues with the touchscreen freezing but I believe that was fixed with a software release for the 2015 model year. And since you are looking at a 2015/2016 you should be OK and looking at those years you can probably get one CPO'd that would allow you some additional peace of mind. Really these things are tried and true (notice not the 'latest') Lexus/Toyota mechanics and tech - reason I went with it.

Best of luck and hopefully someone else might be able to chime in with any additional thoughts or quirks that I have missed.

Hey, thanks for the detailed reply, very informative, and yes I am trying to acquire a CPO'd one from Lexus dealership. I will pay attention to the alignment issue during the test drive.

OP - FWIW. I don't think you will be disappointed, If you have any questions, my wife and I will be on the Canadian side of the Falls mid-April. We'll be able to give you a pretty good assessment and answer anything you may have.

Thanks guys for the advice, I was not aware of the leaning issue. Is it only for MY2014 and prior?

Thanks!

I didn't recall when this was resolved and I'm going off of Post number 35 after reviewing the thread, later post also show the same problem with the 2015.

Ah, my bad. Guess OP needs to take a measuring tape along for the test drives

I have a new 17 and I am concerned about the leaning issue. Has anyone reported this after 2015? It's hard to tell if it's my mind playing tricks on me but it feels every so slightly lower on the passenger side. I may have to measure this as well.

Thanks,
22,000 on the odo so far for me, all trouble free miles. I did get an alignment on the 20k service, probably normal. No leaning, awesome ride and comfort. Getting about 20-21 mpg on the highway, which is mostly what I do. I looked and looked for a CPO Luxury with drivers package... never came in my area, and I looked also in a wider geographical region too. Find the best deal and don't look back.

My 2015 premium has the leaning issue but not all the time. Rear passenger is .5 to .75 lower. No fix for it.

Since you are under warranty are you saying the dealer has looked at it and said there is no explanation? I would love to know the official explanation for this. Something has to be causing it.
