the only place I can recall lexus using the 1UZ 4.0L engine is in the GS400 and SC400. the GS used the 98-up motors with VVTi. the older SCs used the 2nd and 3rd gen 1UZ engines if i'm not mistaken. no other cars stateside used the older 1UZ engines from the 1st gen LS. in japan the Toyota Crown used a 1UZ as well. the newer LS, GS, SC, and SUVs used a bigger 3UZ 4.3L V8.

Some in the Drift crowd like dropping them into Nissan 240's aka Silvia's or the Toyota Corolla GTS Twin Cam/ Levin AE86. There a guy in California who put one in his Corolla TE37 mean little sucker.

you might not want to be so definitive, it was technically also used in the Toyota Crown / Crown Majesta in Japan. the engine was also used in the Toyota Epic which is a waterski boat, and was even going to be the basis for Toyota's light aircraft project, which was eventually cancelled due to high costs. they still got around to doing the testing though, so technically the 1UZ is FAA certified. the FAA literally considers this engine durable enough to power a PLANE!!

Yes, it did serve in applications other than what I listed in other countries. I'm just listing the allocations in the U.S. as far as cars you can go out and buy.

I should have been more specific.

VW air cooled engines, Geo Metro engines, Subaru engines, Chevrolet engines (V8's and Corvair) are all engines that have powered planes.

Tough technically it's not a 1UZ, it's a FV2400.
