Default Oil service soon message

hey guys happy new year, as I'm a relatively new IS F driver, this message popped up on the gauge. Considering that I'm still a bit over 2000 until my next oil change. I'm curious why this came out, maybe you guys know about a specific message

Last person who changed it forgot to reset it probably, I'd check it and not worry about it. Mine did the same thing halfway through my 2k mile road trip.

the oil change is basically a time setting. and the maintenance light turns on 500 miles before it is actually due.

As others have stated, a simple reset will do if you know your oil change intervals. Of course, to really get a sense of how long you can go in between oil changes, having it analyzed is the only way to know. Some choose to get theirs done at 3k or 5k, which I feel is overkill. As reference, my last oil analysis has me going on nearly 10k miles per interval.

No, it has nothing to do with time, only mileage. When reset it chimes in at 4500 miles telling you maintenance soon, then at 5k miles, it says oil maintenance required. I just reset it and ignore it. I am on a completely different schedule than what the factory prescribes.

Not necessary at all. Feel free to input what you would like to be updated on. The technicians at the dealership will reset the Engine Oil and Oil Filter.

This is how I track all my maintenance. I used the personal ones for valve lash, cabin air filter, and OS Giken LSD oil. I would like it a whole lot more if it continued to count the time/mileage after you've seen the notice so you can see just how much overdue a task is.
