Default My car won't start IS250 Help!

Hey guys,

My car ran out of gas, my battery died and it wont start at all. I put in 2 gallons of gas and got a boost but no luck. It cranks but it doesn't start. Any ideas on what might be the problem? Can it be because it was a very cold day? I already did the following:

- Unplugged the battery and plugged it back. No luck
- I also banged on the alternator to see if it was the problem. No luck
- I can hear the fuel pump but not sure if that is the problem.

Any other suggestions would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

Sometimes it takes a bit to get the gasoline running back through the system again.

So did the car stopped because your battery died or ran out of gas? If you were empty, the fuel pump could have failed.

Both. I was changing a bulb in the trunk of the car and I had the doors open for most of the afternoon. But I was also way below E on gas. I had turned on the car a few times during the day and I didn't think it would be a problem waiting until I was done to get gas, being that I am only a block away from a gas station.

I meant it may take more turning over to get it to start. I had a focus run out of gas before. Put a good 5 gallons into the tank and it took 5 minutes of cranking to get it to finally fire up.

Thanks guys. I got the issue resolved. It turned out to be a clogged fuel line. The mechanic got it done in 30 minutes.

Run a detergent cleaner through with a full tank of gas. Something like Berryman Chem 12 complete fuel system cleaner.
