Default Bad ignition cylinder? Steering wheel won't lock

I had a strange problem pop up recently with my '99 GS400. Intermittently, it won't start. I thought it was the starter but after research I think it's related to the ignition cylinder.

More often that not, I cannot get the steering wheel to lock. It moves freely without the key being in it. When I go to start it, it's almost as if starter won't engage. Other times, it will if I move the steering wheel from side to side.

Anyone else had this issue? I have an appointment at the Lexus dealer on Monday but I was wondering if there's a quick fix. Thanks.

Ok, so I think I found the problem. I went to check my battery terminals and one was loose. I tightened it and no more starting issues.

I will monitor it for a few days and see if that fixes it.

Yea its a weird thing, but are cars need power to start, I dont know why, but they just do. Tightening the terminals should solve the problem.
