Some people have no respect nor have any idea how much money or pride we have in our cars.....I'm sorry....had the same thing happen to me on my F-Type right before I traded it for my RCF.....huge door ding the size of Kansas.....white paint transfer on my black car....so obvious.....and nothing....

To me it always seems the more you're Paranoid about parking your car when you go to a restaurant or wherever, the more it happens. I parked my Viper way out & was just keeping an eye just to see if anybody would park by it & sure enuff' a friggin' 70's trashed out van parked right next to it & it was waaaaaaay out of the way. I think some of these people do it just because they know it's going to **** you off, I can't imagine some IDIOT really scratching your car though. I'd be LIVID! By the way, when I saw that I went out & moved it closer in

And this kind of thing is what makes me hate humans.... the more I think about it the more I want to move to a secluded place in the middle of nowhere and have minimal contact with people and society... I'm turning into my grandpa, he'd have been proud!! lol

I feel you pain.
One time I parked my MB SLK55 AMG roadster at night in front of a Barnes and Noble bookstore. I got a call right after I had parked, so I was on the phone for a good 15 minutes. During that time some douchBa*! parked next to me and open their door and ding my door!!! They were very surprised when I honked the horn and got out!!! I have very darkly tinted windows so they did not realize anyone was sitting in the car.
No excuses for no respect for other people's property.

I don't use drive-thru windows.. ever. the majority of the time it is a lot faster to park and walk in, but the bigger reason for me is they are typically very narrow with high curbs and sharp turns and I have no desire to rash my wheels getting a cup of coffee or food. I also have no desire to sit and have my car idle for 10-15 minutes in a drive-thru..

Sorry to see this OP.. Some people are just a-holes and could care less about anyone but themselves, and sadly it's only getting worse..
Whenever I park I always park far away from everyone else, but always within my space. I never take two spaces cause I feel it's just looking for trouble IMO.. Just last weekend I had my car out and parked in the middle of no where in a parking lot. I mean I was by myself all the way in the back of the the second parking lot while everyone else was in the main lot which was closer to the store and wasn't even half full.
And wouldn't you know it, I come back and some a-hole is parked right next to me in his 1980's Mercedes... I mean seriously, if he also wanted to be away from everyone else and park by himself there were no less than 40 other spaces he could have picked from (I'm not kidding) in this empty lot that but he decides to park his POS right next to me. Sorry for the rant..

I accepted the fact years ago that a door ding is inevitable. If I catch someone doing it they will be paying for it though, if I don't hurt them instead. I park as close as possible to where I am going. I haven't had a problem yet. Parking farther away may make you feel safer, but it's also more secluded and therefore makes vandals feel safer as well. Some people are out to purposely cause you misery. Pick your poison.
Sorry to the OP.
