Looking into putting some B-Quiet or Dynamat into the floor and trunk of my car to help reduce the slightly annoying exhaust drone I'm getting from my new catback system. Has anybody done this kind of work? Any advice?

not sure if it will help very much. best bet to get rid of drone is to fab up a resonator tube to cancel out the drone. there's lots of info using a quick search

I remember seeing someone on the forums who went through and put dynamat throughout the entire car. This included the door panels, floor, trunk, exhaust tunnel, and even the fender walls from the inside. He reported a drop of about 20-25% of the noise. Doesn't seem worth it.

Drone is resonance, dynamat won't help. Hemholtz tubes would be your best bet.

Thanks for all the responses. I have a helmholtz style exhaust. I'll look into the "fab" option. 20-25% might be just enough to make it tolerable, but you might be right about it being too expensive to justify.

If you have more info about the helmholtz tube, please share. Tbh I get used to the drone and really dont feel annoyed by it at all when I drive alone. However, I usually drive it very gently if somebody else riding with me.

I'm adding some Second Skin Damplifier Pro (20sq ft) to the trunk of my car. Tanabe Medalion exhaust. I'll let you guys know how it goes.


The low-RPM partial-throttle drone is really starting to annoy me.

Exhaust drone is inevitable with aftermarket exhaust.

I swapped my exhaust out to a full titanium custom exhaust. the drone was horrendous. silentcoated my whole floor pan, rear seats and trunk. little to no difference.

I meant the diameter, length of the tube and where to add them. I have drone around 2200-2500 rpm. At 2700 rpm it is as quite as stock. I think my Invidia midpipe somehow cancel out the exhaust note at 2700 rpm. I did not have that situation before with only JoeZ axle back.

Yeah I agree. I don't think that those will help you with getting rid of your drone noise inside
