Default Speed Governer Removal

Hi,

I want to take the speed governer off my stock 2002 Lexus Es 300. Has anyone done this and know how to? I want my car to be able to push 130-140. Is this even possible lol... Thanks!

In order to remove the stock governor you need a tune that does so. Even with it removed, depending on power your car will be limited by aero drag.

Isn't the top speed of an ES like 140 as is? Not saying its smart or advisable, but I'm pretty sure you wouldn't need to remove a governor

Going off of what 02SDGS said, my '98 tops out at 140 and nearly redline. I'd be curious as to how much more it would go.

140 definitely seems fast enough, not sure what you're trying to do though.
I've only done it once just to see and it was scary, won't be doing it again lol, i barely speed as it is.

I believe it was at 5400 rpms, could be wrong, i might go check my torque log again.

99 ES 300 btw

Nothing identifies you as a 16 year old first time driver more than crap like this.

Honestly I wish mods would just remove bull%^!* posts like these.

Years ago I was young, reckless, and naive. So I pushed my car more than I should.

But yeah, daniel300, if you want to speed, take it to a track. Don't endanger other people's lives or your own. If you're looking for a race car, the ES isn't for you.

I think jaredmac11 was responding to the original post in terms of the eager, first-time driving question of "how fast can it go?".
Not in response to your comment.

Yea I was speaking to the OP and anyone asking to remove the speed governor on an ES300... We're not talking 67 chevy's here... Its a freaking ES300.

My comment just happened to be after yours. I completely agree with what you were saying.

That's so funny!
I'm curious, though. Exactly what part of my comment do you find factually inaccurate?
Have you ever been in a car upside-down in mid-air? Many totaled wrecks, have we? How many surgeries? Like to compare number of stitches? How about broken bones? How about millions of units of penicillin?
You're a little girl, aren't you?

Well, in all honesty, part of your remark was true once ("first time driver"), but that was long before you were born.

I'm working on my second million miles, how about you?
Good reply. I think these cars are governor limited to 135 or so. It's plenty fast enough for me, but it should be up to people to drive as fast as they want.

If you can, go for it. I see nothing wrong with full throttle on an empty road. Nothing at all. Under posted limits won't stop me from enjoying a few moments flat out at the red line.

Very Rational reply. You and the OP are obviously very intelligent.

I hope that's sarcasm.

If the car will actually do it, driving 135-140 mph on public roads in a 14 year old car is stupid and dangerous.

This really is a senseless thread. Driving anything over 80-85 on a freeway, IMO is dangerous. Call me boring, whatever. Save it for the track or the Autobahn.
