errorcodes - who knows what they mean ? what to do ?
Hello,
I have a lexus is 200 , 155 Ps, . The motorcontrollsign got active and I went to the mechanics. They found a lot of error codes - not only one. When the sign for the motor lighted, I didnīt continue drive for a longer time - estimated 30 km. What I found out : It was strange, that the motor didnīt run linear und still, but I could hear a small difference in the sound of the motor . the motor sound went up and down in a way like a wave. The mechanic found the following errorcodes : P0300,PO302,PO303, PO306 and P1305, P1310,P1315,P1320;P1325. They told me, that they dont exactly know, what they mean, and that it wound take al lot of time for them to find it out - and for me this would ment a lot of money. Does someone know these codes ? Or has someone an idea ? thanks, Sophie

Not familiar with these codes on a IS300 first gen. but the ones that look familiar are ignition codes. I'd check the spark plugs, coils and wires. Also test the cam position sensor, all testing is done with a volt meter, not very difficult, unless you've never done it before. There are lots of you tube videos though.
I wouldn't pay a mechanic to fix this. I'd give them a hundred bucks for a diagnostic that would apply to the repair if I trusted one. Since I don't know one I trust, I'd do it myself and it'd take an hour or so. I'd also invest in a mid range diagnostic scanner and clear the codes myself and keep driving to see what code is coming on first. Most likely, the mechanic is pulling history and the real culprit that is activating the motor control light is something pretty simple like a loose gas cap or leak in the air filter box on 1 or 2 legit codes. I've seen that before.
