Default What to look for buying Used

Hello all,

I am in the market for a used GS (2014-2015) F-Sport. Found a 2014 RWD with 17k Deep Sea Mica for $35k.

The car is located in NJ and is in transit to the NW where I'm at. I've placed a deposit to look at it and am thinking through what to look for when it arrives.

The car you linked to is an AWD Obsidian...hope you get the right car

I would have someone do a PPI on it. Either a trusted mechanic, or one of the many companies that do PPIs (check Yelp for reviews).

Yes I thought the same thing about color. Wonder if they used the wrong pictures on the ad. I am following up to confirm the color and if AWD. I don't mind if it's RWD or AWD but black versus blue does matter.

This dealership does work with the local Lexus dealership for inspections and details so I'm hopeful for a good report.

Curious why you're not looking locally. Seems like there are a lot of good local listings right now, like this one:

https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/d...1473/overview/

It's a '13, F Sport, Liquid Platinum, with 19k miles for $34k.

It clearly says "Obsidian" on the ads and even CARFAX says it's AWD.

Where did you get the info on Deep Sea Mica?

It was, I just looked at my 2014 sales brochure. Deep sea mica was available on all trim levels for 2014.

ive seen a couple 13s F-sport with 30k around $30k. I'd like to find a 14 with less than 20k for sub $34k.

It also looks like they updated the color to obsidian since emailing them to confirm the color. Bummer!

I've been concentrating on Luxury Package cars rather than F-Sports, but I have to say my favorite color combination is Deep Sea Mica with Flaxen interior. I've only seen a couple of non-LP cars with that color combo so far.

I too have been looking for a 14 Fsport (white however). Around here in Chicago, my friend has been able to easily find about 23K mile vehicles for $28.5K (with BSM and IPA), ferw with Cold weather however.
From what i've been seeing, the deep sea mica you are looking for is very uncommon. I've only seen maybe like 4-5 and i've been looking for over a full month now (for my white one).

Now is a great time to be looking for a 2014 F-Sport (that's my choice too). Black/Black. I have my eyes on a few here in my area but I am going to insist on buying a L/Certified vehicle for piece of mind. Unfortunately, that means I will likely not see a sub $34k price on a vehicle under 40k miles (I also need AWD). But, perhaps that will change as the '17s start hitting the lots. I suppose I can dream.

Today I just realized the LP cars are quite similar to the F-Sport, so I think I might open up my searching to perhaps look for one of those too. I'd still be completely thrilled to find a black/black AWD F-Sport for $34k but if there were an LP hanging out on a lot somewhere, I'd def consider it now.

Are there features folks couldn't live without?
- ML? I've heard this is better, but not worth paying extra for?
- Are the 14s worth paying 2-3k extra for over a 13?

There's a thread difference between 13 and 14.
As far as I remember the navigation and bsm is updated on the 14s if someone can chime in with more details.

You missed out. Prestige Lexus had a Deep Sea Mica, flaxen interior, lux package! I had my eye on it , but sold before i got to it. It was a 2014 and was sold right when i was about to make the deal. it was also a bit on the high side at $32k i felt. But the mileage was low. it was sold about a month ago. That to me was the perfect combo .

Have you dealt with Prestige? I'm avoiding Bay Ridge and Route 10 at this point so I'm weary about exploring another dealership. Engelwood has an Amazing inventory of CPO's and they seem pretty genuine about getting me into the right car.

If you're willing to drive, Burdick looks like they might have that combo (no pics though so I can't confirm if it's legit Lux)
