Oil Change Info
I am sure most here would already know this, but local Toyota dealers sell factory filters for 6 bucks and 0W-20 Full Synthetic oil for $6.50 a quart. Can't beat that I think. Oil change on the Hybrid is super-easy except for really needing a funnel for that oil cap that's so far down in the engine bay. They also (at least for me) handed out a fresh oil drain plug washer for nothing. The only thing they got wrong was that they thought the 400H only took 4 quarts to fill with a filter. Obviously this is not the case. I am totally comfortable with this rig doing 5K oil changes. The old oil was still a golden brown when it came out.

0W-20? I really haven't paid attention but is that what is required for our engine? I've just brought it into Toyota and let them do the oil change...never really paid attention I guess.

0w-20 is just fine, especially as it gets colder during the winter months. I will be running 5w-20 in the summer. 08 400H I believe acutally specs a 0w-20. My 07 says 5w-20 or 5w-30, but they are the exact same engine in the Hybrid. I found this thread as well.

That's good to know. I have gone out to 10K before with my wife's previous wagon using AMSOil 5w-20. Car did beautiful. One thing in the manual I found funny and a bit alarming was what it considered acceptable oil consumption. Book says up to 1 quart per 600 miles is acceptable...lol. If that engine started burning a whole quart of oil every 600 miles, I would lose my **** and think the engine needed a full rebuild or someone drilled a hole in the oil pan...

I get my Toyota and Lexus parts, if I can wait a few days, from autonation gulf freeway in Houston, TX. just Google "autonation gulf freeway parts" and it'll take you there. I use the bigger filter on our RX400H and Tacoma and they do great. Part number 90915-YZZD3 and they're exactly $4.21 from that site.
Sure you have to pay for shipping , but there's no sales tax and I usually get a few filters when I get other parts.
