Door LED Change Out - Part# 1
Good evening. This is a step by step guide to changing out the interior door puddle lights over to led. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND STARTING WITH THE DOORS FIRST WHEN CHANGING OUT THE INTERIOR LIGHTS TO LED. They are the easiest and it will give you a feel for the interior plastic. I used the Yorkim 194 / T10 LED lights there- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JRE38EA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 . You get 10. They worked great! This is a one beer job. Here we go!...
1) Get a small flat head screwdriver, needle nose pliers, a couple of paper towels and your favorite beer.
2) Gently pry out one side of the lights. You can now kind of slide it out at that point. You can pry further on the lights if need be.
3) Disconnect the clip to the lights. You can now pull it out and start changing it out.
4) Pull the old bulb out. When installing the LED bulb, I had to widen the bulb holder some. The LED bulb was a little bigger in diameter. This is where I used the needle nose pliers. I am sure you can use regular pliers or what you have. Depending on what you go with, you may or may not need to do this. When plugging in the new ones, if they do not light up, turn them 180 degrees. I had to do this a few times.
5) Install the led bulb and clip the power to it to test. If id does not come on, simply turn the bulb 180 degrees. I had to do this several times.
6) When it lights up, You are good to go! Simply reinstall and do 3 more.
Huge thank you to @Chocolate for his input on my other threads. He was awesome!

Would sure appreciate some guidance. I started doing this today and forget step 3, disconnect the clip and I think I might have blown a fuse because none of the courtesy door lights work now. I reinstalled the old bulb and still nothing. Does anyone know where the fuse is located? I checked the owners manual and there was nothing that I found the specially stated door lights.
Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, I was trying to do this mod today on my 2015 LX and my door lights look different. See photos below. I don't know how to get the grey plastic part off without breaking the whole thing. Anyone have some advice? Thanks in advance!

Carefully bend the two tabs then pull the inner part out? Removing the housing from the lens that's going to be tricky that is hard plastic will help to apply heat.

I've tried that to no avail. Will try a hairdryer but it seems like it's one solid piece. I may have to just replace the whole light/lens assembly with an LED one. Does anyone have recommendations? I would prefer NOT to have a Lexus logo projecting one...
Thanks!
Thanks!

amaurer- just did LED door bulbs on my LS460. This grey plastic base and clear lense are identical on my rig. Simply push the entire grey base toward the plug side. (Feels scary at first.). This whole grey piece seperates from the clear lens. The grey base can then pull apart and the bulb is inside.
