Default Snow: Wheels and tire choice for winter.

I just bought my GS F and need to set her up for winter. I asked the dealer first for OEM wheels...$2200 each rear and $1900 front ...insane! My mechanic suggested there may be a Club Lexus member in a southern clime who is into aftermarket looks... anyone out there with their OEM available?
Also, he is researching my aftermarket options. Anyone who has solved the problem and has input would be greatly appreciated.

I'm in a similar situation. Debating on getting factory wheels with snow tires, aftermarket wheels with snows, or buying an SUV for the Southern Ohio Winters and keeping the GS F garaged. What are your thoughts?

With the money spent on additional wheels and tires, I would get a beater truck for snow days, keep the sports car parked up

why spend 70-80K buying the gsf and park it for 6 month, and spend another 5-10k for a beat up? Doesn't make sense. It's a machine, drive it

Who said 6 months? I'm talking like 6 times a year it snows, and a beater should be like 2-3k tops

still waiting on my GSF to arrive but i am already thinking about this. has anyone picked a solid set of wet/snow tires? I'd like to make sure I remain grippy in the PNW winter months so I can have "fund" year around.

I spoke with my dealer. Evidently, they have a "Winter Tire Program" where I can but 4 snow tires and they swap them on my factory rims for $25 per tire and even store my summer tires for me. Their tires come with a 2 year pro-rated road hazard warranty. This seems like a pretty good deal to me. The only tire available is the Pirelli Winter 270 Sottozero. What are your thoughts on going this route?

Those Pirelli are overpriced for the performance.. I am using the oem wheels for my winter set up, with 255/40/19 nokian hakkapeliitta 8 studded tires all around (square set-up).

RCF wheels are the same dimensionally as the GSF, and there are many sets listed on eBay. I bought RCF wheels from eBay from my ISF. Some are overpriced, but you can pick up a set for less than $2K. As with the GSF, the RCF wheels are made by BBS and are forged. There were 3, now 4, different RCF wheel designs.

Buy a nice set of aftermarket wheels for summer and use your OEM wheels for winter.

Great find! I am currently looking at maybe moving from my RCF to a GSF. I need to see if the 18" wheels currently on my RCF will work on the GSF. If they didn't I would probably go this route.

^^^^If they fit your RCF they will fit a GSF. Brakes are the same and RCF and GSF have same dimensions for the wheels.
