Opinions on smokey mica granite spoilers/grill on Mercury Metallic F
Hey everyone. Need some opinions.
I've got a Bayson front lip spoiler, OEM trunk spoiler, rear window spoiler, front grill surround and rear trunk emblems that I am thinking to paint Smoky mica granite and install on my Mercury Metallic F. I'm not sold on the rear window spoiler, but I intend to get it painted and if I don't install it I will sell it to one of you with a SMG car
What do you guys think about going dark grey instead of black for the accents? I think the very dark gray is somewhat more akin to carbon fiber color. I'm hoping this contrast will look good on my Mercury Metallic. I'm thinking it will look better than just plain black.
Im planning to keep the Lexus symbol on the front grill chrome, but that will be the only chrome left.
What do you all think? The SMG is a really dark gray. Do you think this will turn out well?
Some Options I've thought of include:
1). All parts SMG
2) Front grill surround black, everything else SMG
3) All parts black. If so, should I match to obsidian black OEM color or go more of a flat black.
Any thoughts on the gray instead of going black? Will likely do a test spray this Friday to see how it's going to look and then make final decision.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Interesting idea. I have carbon bits here and there and agree it looks better on MM than just black but I'm having a hard to picturing SMG on the pieces you mentioned. Hopefully you can find some pics floating around out there to share... I'm contemplating the rear spoiler as well. Carbon, wald, or painted factory.

Josh--Interested good or interested bad. The SMG is a really dark, metallic, pure gray, right? It's kind of hard to tell the exact color in pictures. I could go any gray that I wanted, but it seemed like a good idea to keep an OEM color code and the colors seem to go well together. I've seen some MMs with matching silver add on parts and they looked almost too silver, like they needed some contract.
The good thing is that my buddy owns the body shop and has assured me that we will test everything first to make sure I like it, so, that's good and takes the pressure off. Secondly, the good news is that the Bayson lip spoiler, extra OEM spoiler I bought off this site, new OEM grill, emblems and rear window spoiler all together we're only ~$400, so, it's not that much of a financial risk.
Im hoping to get this done Friday, so I should have pics before the weekend if all goes well.

Sorry didn't mean to imply i have actual SMG trim, its just darker than the normal silver not an exact match on SMG. Either way I think a darker gray looks fantastic on a MM.

Ok, things are rolling. Just took all the parts up and checked out the SMG color 1G0. It's a great color, but it has blue in it in the sun. There was a closely related Toyota color 1G3 Magnetic Gray Metallic) that had only gray and silver--no blue at all. I ended up going with this one with a very fine grain to the metallic. With the exception of the IS emblem that they pulled off the car, I had duplicates or new parts for everything else in my trunk (chin, trunk and rear window spoiler, Lexus emblem and front grill). Thus, except for the IS emblem which I am sure I will like, everything else can be put back to stock in the future if need be.
Should have everything installed next week and will post pics then. Keeping my fingers crossed. It certainly helps to have a friend with a body shop!
