Default Pairing 2016 NX 200t with a Liftmasters gate opener equipped with Security+ 2.0

I just picked up my Lexus last night and I've already spent this whole morning trying to figure out how to get it to work with my Liftmasters gate opener.

I have tried all the steps i could find in the owner's manual and on the Internet. For instance the following standard procedure does not work:

1. Reset all homelink buttons by holding down the two farthest ones.
2. Press the number 1 homelink button and a slow flashing orange light comes on.
3. Press and hold the button on my gate remote and wait until the homelink light starts flashing green rapidly (Indicating it's a rolling code mechanism).
4. Try to operate the gate with the homelink button to confirm it's indeed not working yet (Confirmed).
5. Press the learn button on the gate opener and the learn light turns orange.
6. Press the homelink button numerous times to see if the gate opener will pair with my car (Does not work).

I understand that my gate opener is equipped with a Security+ 2.0 mechanism which won't work with most of pre-2011 cars without the repeater kit, but I'm pretty sure the 2016 NX supports it directly (right?).

Has anyone had a similar problem before?

For reference, my gate opener is a Liftmasters SL3000UL8 and I've programmed my remote controls with little to no issue before.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't know if it works, but a suggestion, try a long press on the homelink button to see if it'll pair with the opener.

Seems like you're doing the right steps. Make sure your car is parked within range. For step 6, try holding it for 3 seconds, let go for 1 second, and repeat until programmed.

In the '15 Manual there is a special step described for USA gate owners and Canadian devices, you might see if your manual also has that. It involves multiple presses of the button as the others suggested.

The instructions in the manual are bad. The ones that HomeLink provides on their site are better.

I've read about issues with some Liftmaster openers and Homelink on this forum. Try doing a search on Liftmaster. You'll get a ton of hits, most with good ideas to try.

I went back and tried everything again to no avail. The car and gate opener just refuse to work together. I searched around and followed instructions from the owner's manual, Homelink's website and even my gate opener's manual. Their procedures are almost the same.

Just to test my gate opener I also tried resetting it and pairing all my remotes again which worked fine. It's only the car that refuses to pair. I'm pretty sure the first part goes right (letting Homelink discover the remote's frequency), but the 2nd step, which is letting the gate opener learn about the Homelink in the car, fails.

At this point my only guesses are:

1. Gate opener uses a rolling code system not supported by Lexus.
2. Car is not detecting the right frequency during the first step (Almost tempted to take my rtl-sdr downstairs and try finding out if both my remote and the Homelink transmit on the same frequency)
2. Signal from Homelink is too weak to reach the gate opener (Very unlikely and ruled it out by positioning the car differently and trying to pair)

my liftmaster uses a rolling code and i have no issues. I think I watched a how to on youtube. Id be willing to bet Lexus would come out (from the dealer) and do it for you.

They did for me. It was embarrassing when I saw what I had missed, but he told me it happens a LOT. He could have been trying to make me feel better, but I chose to believe him.

Which step did you miss?

The step where you synch the rolling code to the remote, before synching to the opener receiver. I never had to do that before. It was clearly listed in the manual, but I didn't believe it. I'm stubborn, that way.
